The Beisht Kione lunged toward Mabel. Soos lunged at Mabel and pushed her out of the way just in time. The Kione missed, but it's lung shook the entire ship. It took all my strength to hold on to the the wheel and keep the ship straight. I almost lost control, but Great Uncle Ford grabbed the wheel and the last minute and helped me get steady.
"Wendy! Come and take the wheel from Dipper!"
"Aye aye Captain!" Wendy quickly grabbed a rope from one of the mast and swung over, taking the wheel from me.
"Show off." I whispered mockingly. Wendy shrugged and winked at me.
"Not the time you two." Great Uncle Ford said. His tone was mostly serious, but I could hear just a hint of amusement in his voice. "Stan! Soos! Keep that monster from tearing apart the ship apart!"
"Aye aye Captain!"
"Use fire!" I yelled to them. Great Uncle Ford glanced at me, a look of pride in his eyes. I turned to him grinning, knowing I was right. "That's the Beisht Kione's weakness right? Fire."
"That it is. Excellent work my boy!" After giving me a small nod of approval Great Uncle Ford turn to Soos and Stan. "You heard Dipper! Hit that thing with as much fire as you got!"
"How do we do that?" Soos questioned.
"OOOO I HAVE AN IDEA!!!" Mabel yelled with an amount of excitement that slightly worried me.
"That's my little pyromaniac! What you got sweetie!" Grunkle Stan responded with the same amount of worrying excitement.
"Dipper," the sudden presence of Great Uncle Ford's hand on my shoulder made me jump. "I want you to go help them."
"What are you going to do?"
Great Uncle Ford's eyes lit up with a sort of mischief gleam.
"I'm going to go get that amulet." With that, Great Uncle Ford grabbed the rope that Wendy had used and swung on to the Telepathy. I watch him go in awe before quickly running onto the deck to help fight off the Beisht Kione.
When I got there Soos was using a torch to keep the Beisht back, while Stan and Mabel were using the canons to shoot fire balls?
"I AM THE GOD OF DESTRUCTION!!!" Mabel screamed at the top of her lungs as Grunkle Stan shot another fire ball at that beast.
"Yeah! Take that you slimy beast!" Grunkle Stan retorted.
"Woah," I said as I finally reached them. "How are you...?" I glanced behind Mabel to see a giant pile of hay behind her. She grinned.
"We're setting the hay in fire and using the canon to shoot them at it!"
"But isn't that the hay we use for Waddles bed?"
"Eh," Mabel shrugged. "He usually sleeps with me anyway."
"Hey Dipper," Grunkle Stan said, "Want to take over for me? I need to help Soos with keeping the slime head back."
Mouth dropped.
"Really!?!"
Grunkle Stan smiled at me softly, a trait of his that he would deny if ever brought up.
"Yeah, Yeah, Just hurry up before I change my mind and decide to keep the fun to myself."
I quickly ran to take his place. As Grunkle Stan went to grab a torch to help Soos, Mabel and I kept firing. Mabel would load the canon and set the hay in fire, while I aimed. We got about three shots in when a gremlin shriek breached our ears.
Great Uncle Ford suddenly appeared next to Stan, amulet in hand. The Beisht Kione stop taking, it's eyes clouded in daze. Gideon ran to the side of the Telepathy.
"GIVE THAT BACK!"
"Sorry Captain Gleeful," Great Uncle Ford respond calmly. "But I think I'm going to keep this." I held back a chuckle as much as I could as Gideon turned into a tomato.
"TELEPATHY CREW," he screamed "PREPARE TO BOARD!"
"Oh, I wouldn't do that captain." Great Uncle Ford said.
"AND WHY NOT STANFORD!?!"
"Well, according to my research, the Beisht Kione will be in a daze state for maybe 10 to 15 minutes after being released from the amulet's hold. And once it comes back to it's senses the Beisht Kione tends to hold a grudge against the last wheeler of the amulet. Which, in this case was you."
Gideon turned from a tomato to a ghost as Great Uncle Ford continued.
"So I would say you have about 10 minutes, at most, left to get as far away from it as possible."
Gideon growled, balling his hands into fist before turning to his crew.
"Retreat!" He yelled. Within less than a minute the Telepathy was sailing past us.
"This isn't over!" Gideon yelled as they passed.
"Oh I'm sure it isn't!"Great Uncle Ford responded smugly. He jumped on one of the rope nets so he could still see Gideon. "And next time we meet you have to tell me the name of your dealer. I'm very interested in seeing what he has to offer!"
The Mystery was filled with cheers of victory as the Telepathy sailed away, but they were short lived.
"Wendy! Get us far away from the Beisht Kione as you can. We don't want to be here when it wakes." Great Uncle Ford yelled, jumping off of the rope net.
"Aye aye Captain!"
"Wait, hold on." Grunkle Stan said. "I thought you said that it would go after whoever used amulet."
"Oh I made that up." Great Uncle Ford said while studying the amulet.
"What?"
"I mean the part about it being mad is true, but the Beisht Kione doesn't actually know who had the amulet. It will just attack whoever is near it."
"That's not a good thing Ford!"
"I know that Stanley. Why do you think we're sailing away from it?"
Grunkle Stan groaned. Great Uncle Ford walked past Grunkle Stan, his eyes never leaving the amulet.
"Now, if you'll excuse me I'm going to be in my study. Stanley you're in charge."
"Yeah, yeah. Leave me to clean up like always. Come on Soos." Grunkle Stan, Soos, and Mabel began to clean up but I just watch Great Uncle Ford walk away.
This is your chance Dipper. I thought, as I pulled out Journal 3. Just go ask him.
He'll just say no again. I argued. Besides I should help with clean up. I watched Great Uncle Ford open the door to his cabin, or his study, torn. It's now or never Dipper!
Making a decision I bolted to his study, catching the door just before it closed. I slipped in and let the door close. Great Uncle Ford glance over as the door closed.
"Oh hello Dipper. Shouldn't you be helping with clean up?"
"Well...I was going to but I wanted to ask you something."
"Don't sounds so nervous Dipper. You know you can ask me anything."
"I know but-"
"So ask away"
I hesitated before flipping to the one page in Journal 3 that I knew practically nothing about. The page I've read more than any other page in any book.
"I want to know more about this."
Great Uncle Ford's eyes barely skimmed the page before widening. He turned away with a sigh.
"Dipper-"
"I know what you're going to say!" I quickly jumped in. "That I'm too young or that it's too dangerous-"
"Dipper,"
"But you also tell me all the time that the best way to prepare for an enemy is to know as much as possible about them!"
"Dipper."
"So how can I prepare if you tell me nothing about it!! I'm just trying to-"
"DIPPER!!!"
I took a step back. Grunkle Ford posture quickly relaxed as he regretted raising his voice. I silent cursed myself for flinching. Grunkle Ford never rises his voice unless we're on this topic. I knew it was bound to happen. I shouldn't have flinched.
"Dipper," Grunkle Ford said softly. "You're right." I looked up shocked.
"I am?"
"You're right but you're wrong." Grunkle Ford sighed again as he ran a hand through his hair. "Look Dipper, this monster he's very complicated. Normally, yes , knowing as much about your element as you can is the best way to prepare for them. But this monster doesn't go by normal rules. The more you know about it the more likely you are to run into it, and if you or Mabel ever..." Grunkle Ford trailed off. He looked at me, before kneeling down and putting his ands on my shoulders.
"Dipper, I know how hard it is to want answer and not have them, but please, I am begging you, drop it. Trust me and leave this a mystery. If it becomes necessary I will tell you everything, but for now, please leave it be. Ok?"
I sighed and looked at my feet.
"Okay." I reluctantly agreed. Great Uncle Ford sighed in relief.
"Thank you my boy." Great Uncle Ford stood up and picked the amulet up from where he put it on his desk. "Why don't you go put this in the vault for me. I'll take a look at it later."
I doubt that he actually wanted me to put the amulet pin the vault this quickly, but he also knew that the vault al,ost always cheered me up. I loved looking at all the cool magically artifacts we had stored in there. I gave Great Uncle Ford the best smile I could muster, and took the amulet. As I walked out of the cabin my smile disappeared. As I walked out the vault I opened Journal 3 to that page. I knew Great Uncle Ford was just trying to protect me, but I hated not knowing about it. And I hated even more that Great Uncle Ford knew about it and refused to tell me. It felt like he was keeping selects from me. I paused as I reread the single sentence that was written on the page.
Beware the demon of the seven seas.———AUTHOR'S NOTE——-
Hey guys! I just wanted to apologize because at some point Wattpad deleted more than half of this chapter, and I didn't notice until after posting a lot of other chapters. So this chapter just kind of cut off. When I finally did notice I had absolutely no time to fix it so it stayed like that even longer. I know it caused a lot of confusion and I'm so sorry. I have how it happened, but hopefully it will never happen again. Thank you for being patient and I hope you enjoyed!!!
