Ford

Night

I sat at my desk with the Amulet of Kion laying next to journal I was writing in. Dipper was sitting on the floor next to me, reading my second journal. I had offered him a chair, but he was intent with sitting on the floor beside me. He would mumble to himself as he read, every once in a while chewing on his nail. It made me chuckle. He was so much like me.

It was extremely late, and we were the only ones up. Well, the only ones up beside Soos, it was his turn to keep look out. I knew that Dipper should be in bed, we both should of, but he greatly enjoy staying up with me during my late studies. I didn't let him do it often, Stanley would have a fit. But nothing had really happened during the day, so I thought I'd give the kid something to be excited about.

I turned back to the amulet. I frowned as I picked it up. I must have mumbled something becase Dipper looked up from the journal.

"Everything ok, Great Uncle Ford?"

"Yes, I'm just a little puzzled."

"About the amulet?" Dipper asked standing up. I gave a small shrug.

"Partially." I mumbled to myself.

"Well, maybe I can help." He moved his hand toward the amulet to pick it up, but he didn't touch it. He looked at me, waiting for permission.

"Go on," I granted. "Maybe you'll notice something I haven't." Dipper smile brighten has he picked up the amulet. He began turning it in his hands, studying every angle, every little nix in the stone. Just like me. I smiled sadly.

My eyes went back to the surface of my desk as I thought. Despite what Dipper believed, the amulet wasn't what had me puzzled, well not exactly. It was where it came from. Every time we encounter that pesky little Gremlin he had some new magical item to use against use. Originally I wasn't concern, there were tones of illegal black magic sellers, I had a relationship with most of them. But as we kept beating him, and his disgusting obsession with Mabel grew he brought more and more dangerous items. Items that he should have never been able to get his hands on. The amulet was a prime example. A war tyrant used the amulet years ago to destroy civilization after civilization. When he was finally stopped, it was decided that the amulet was to dangerous and given to the a dying mermaid, who buried it somewhere in the sea. The mermaid died a day later, telling no one the location. It shouldn't be possible for someone to find it.

Yet, here it was, in my great nephews hands. I was worried. It wasn't the fact that Gleeful had it. He was a child, who seem to barely know how to use any of the magical items he was given. No, I was more worried about where he was getting it. I sighed and rested my head in hands. This whole situation was making my head hurt.

"Great Uncle Ford," Dipper said without adverting his eyes from the amulet. "Did you notice this?" I glanced over and saw that he was pointing to a small engraving on the back of the amulet.

"Yes. I believe it was the signature of the creator of the amulet." I responded. My head was banging. I was going to have to send Dipper away soon, so I could rest.

"I feel like I've seen the symbol before." Dipper muttered. "Was the creator also the guy who-" He stopped abruptly. I looked up and saw a small panic in his eyes as he looked back at me,

"Dipper." I said sitting up. "Dipper was wrong?" He opened his mouth to respond, but nothing came out. "Dipper what's wrong!? Are you hurt!?!"

"Are you?" Dipper asked back. I frowned. What on Earth is he talking about? dipper seem to know what I was thinking, because he responded before I could ask. "You're, you're eye." Dipper said, his raising to cover his own eye. "You're right eye-"

I quickly reached up and felt my eye. There was some liquid coming out of it. Oh, god. Oh please god no! It couldn't be, he couldn't be here! But my head, how could it not. I pulled my hand away, and saw the worst. My eye was bleeding. He's here!

"We have to hurry." I said standing up. I shove the amulet and the two journals in my desk drawer and locked it. I quickly ran to grab my sword, which I had set aside when I came in earlier.

"Wh-what?" Dipper said startled. "What are you talking about? Great Uncle Ford what's-"

"Dipper listen to me." I said bending down, and putting my hands on his shoulders. "This is very important. I need you to go get sister. Get her out of your room and hide. You got me?"

"Hide from what? I-"

"You just have to trust me Dipper! Wake your sister up and hide somewhere o the ship. Don't come out for anyone except for me or your Grunkle Stan."

"What about Wendy and Soos?"

"I'll worry about them. You worry about your sister." I saw the panic in Dipper's eyes as he tried to process everything I said. He looked terrified. I was terrified. "You have to be brave Dipper." I said. "Ok? I know it's hard, but you have to try." Dipper stared at me for a moment before nodding.

"You can count on me!" He began to run for the door.

"Wait Dipper!" He turned back. "If someone finds you, and they're not Stanley or me, either run or fight." I said. "I don't care if it's Wendy or Soos! You fight like you're lives depend on it!" Dipper looked at me, confusion written all over his face, but he nodded. I got to the doorway in just enough time to see Dipper disappear down the ship's small hallway.

I took a deep breath and turn in the opposite direction. Time to fight. With my sword out, I quietly opened the door that lead to the ship's deck. I only just managed to silently close the door when I felt the cold metal of a blade against my neck. I took a two steps away from the door so I could see my enemy, the blade following me swiftly. I felt my muscle tighten as I laid eyes on that disgusting grin.

"Hey, Fordsy," Cipher gloated, pushing the blade closer to my neck. "Miss me?"
