Pendleton Ward's first episode of "Adventure Time" was commissioned by Nickelodeon's "Random! Cartoons" in 2008. The episode did very well, and Ward pitched the idea for a series. However, Nickelodeon turned him down twice, so he found a different home on Cartoon Network.
