when i glanced at luke he looked angry. nobody made a move, everyone just looking at me.

"that's mine," i said, holding out my hand. all eyes stayed on me as i slowly answered the phone, holding it to my ear. i didn't say anything for a few minutes, just looking at luke. i wanted him to say something, to tell me he'd handle it or something. he just stared at me, his fists balled at his sides.

"hello? katie?" liam said on the other side. i took a deep breath, everyone still looking at me. jack looked confused, obviously not up to date on everything going on.

"hi," i whispered turning around to avoid everyone's stares. out of the corner of my eye i saw luke storm out of the room and i heard him slam his door, the sheer force making the walls shake.

"katie, finally. why did that random guy answer your phone last time? that really hurt, katie." i closed my eyes at his words, not knowing how to feel. how is that fair to me? i heard jack asking rose what was going on, but i didn't hear a response.

"i didn't know what to say to you." i didn't know why i was whispering and i certainly didn't know why i was defending myself to liam of all people.

"i miss you too," he laughed, obviously misunderstanding me. i watched calum go over to luke's door and knock loudly, but he didn't get anywhere.

"that's not what i meant, liam." i could picture the smile falling from his face and him rolling his eyes at me, making me feel like a child.

"so you just don't care about me anymore? i thought you loved me?" i could feel the tears slipping from my eyes at his words, at how unfair he was being. i turned back around, i couldn't talk to him anymore. rose noticed my face and grabbed the phone, walking away with it. i could feel the tears going down my face and the only thing i could think of to do was to go to luke. i needed to talk to him, i needed my friend.

i walked up to his door and knocked continuously. i knew i was probably being annoying, but i just needed to talk to him.

"luke, please," i pleaded, still pounding on the door. i knew i was acting like a child throwing a tantrum and everyone could hear me, but i just didn't care. i heard the door unlock and i immediately grabbed the handle and pushed it open. i watched luke walk over and sit on his bed, putting his head in his hands.

i sat down next to him and put my head on his shoulder and just cried. i heard him take a deep breath before he wrapped his arms around me and rubbed my back. it helped me calm down before i finally looked at him. he looked hurt and it broke my heart. did i do this to him?

"what did he say?" he asked, laying back.

"he accused me of not loving him anymore. and he was right, but i don't get how he can make me feel guilty about it," i spilled to him. i decided to lay down next to him, looking up at his face. he just laid there with his eyes closed and didn't say anything.

"what are you thinking?" i asked him, his eyes opening to stare at the ceiling. he looked like he was holding his breath as he just stared off into space.

"just delete his number. i mean, if you don't want to hear from him then i don't get why you keep it." luke was beginning to sound frustrated. and maybe he was right. this wasn't fair to him.

"rose!" i yelled, hoping she came in here. she ran in quickly, alarmed.

"what happened?" she asked, my phone still in her hand. i reached out and grabbed it from her, going right to my contacts. i could feel both of their eyes on me as i went to liam's contact and clicked the block button. luke let out the breath he was holding and rose fought back a small smile. i set the phone on luke's bedside table and crawled under his covers. i was going to be happy for myself, who cared about what liam thought i should feel. even with my eyes closed i could tell when the lights went out and rose left the room.
