"Hello?" I mumble, opening the bag of chips and pouring it into the glass bowl.
"Who's this?" I balance the phone between my ear and shoulder as I open the fridge to reach for the drinks.
"Well I don't usually drop my name but since we'll get quite acquainted" the gruff male voice says, "it's Andrea"
I snort as I make my way to the living room where my siblings have set up a blanket fort for movie night.
"Isn't that a girls name?" I ask, amused.
The man sighs in a way that tells me he's used to hearing that.
"It's not" he states.
I scoff as I set the load in my arms down, "Okay Andrea" I drawl out and notice that my brothers all perk up.
I hold a finger up to signal that they wait for me before heading back to the kitchen.
"So what can I do for you?" I ask.
"Well I figured I owed you since you were kind enough to let 162 go"
"What?" I ask, confused.
"What's her name now?" the man muses to himself, "Amy? Ally?"
"Avery?" my voice comes out a little hoarse.
"Yes, thank you" he chuckles, "it's hard to keep track of everyone that works for me"
"Works for you?" my voice is now barely above a whisper.
The man chuckles again, "Surely you've figured out by now who I am, I must say, you sound a lot like your mother even through the phone."
My grip on the phone tightens and I feel the blood drain from my face.
I don't look up as someone enters the kitchen, "I asked for coke not sprite" I barely hear Jayden complain.
"I must have shocked you into silence" the man's voice is amused but I still can't find my voice, instead I feel myself begin to shake.
I'm speaking to the man that murdered my parents.
"Dylan?" Jayden asks worriedly when he notices my demeanor.
When I don't answer he yanks the phone out of my hands and places it to his ear, "Hello? Who the hell is this?"
The man must have hung up because Jay swears and slams my phone down on the table. He grabs my shoulder, shaking my limp body, "Dylan what's wrong? Who the hell was that Andrea chick?"
I try to form words but they come out as a strangled croak and I feel my eyes fill with tears.
"Guys, get in here!" Jay calls out in a panicked tone.
Soon enough, I'm surrounded by my worried siblings asking me over and over what the problem is.
I see Chase grab my phone and go through my call log, "It's a blocked number" he states before looking back at me. "Goddammit Dylan you're scaring the shit out of us"
"It was him" I whisper gravely.
"What?"
"He-he killed them" I whisper as I collapse backwards into Zach. His arms instantly wrap around my shaking form.
All my brothers except Chase are still confused but he has put two and two together.
He quietly tells them what has been going on and how the person I just got off the phone with just happened to be Avery's boss who killed my parents.
"Mary, let's go start on that movie hmm?" Mason drags a reluctant Mary away from the kitchen and back to the living room.
The rest of my brothers gather around me and I can't bring myself to look at them.
