Kathrine's POV:

Today was my eleventh birthday. I was so excited, I could hardly wait for my party. Both my parties. In a few hours Alex was throwing me one with all the animal spirits in town. Even my old bunny, Fluff was going to be there. And then afterwards mom was throwing me a big bash too! Mr. Dale, his wife, and even my third grade teacher, Mr. Granville was going to be there. Quickly, I put on my new dress I got this morning from mother. It was white and frilly, and went down to my knees, it had a big red bow tied around the back.

When I went downstairs into the dining/living/central room a giant breakfast lay before me. I smiled. Mom must have spent the wee hours of the night to make this for me. I grab a clean plate and began to stuff myself with eggs, bacon, bagels, toast, pastries, and the like. By the time I finish my stomach feels like it's about to pop open. Gosh, I shouldn't have ate so much... When I look at our clock it tells me I have less than an hour to reach Alex. I hurry out the front door of the little row house and run towards the forest where Alex told me to meet him.

"Hey Kat!" He yells, waving a greeting towards me. He hadn't aged at all since the day we met and still looked like a carefree fifteen year old. "Hey Alex! Good morning," I say when I reach him. He grabs onto my hand and we walk together down the worn path. "Where are we going for the party?" I ask him. He grins at me, "It's a surprise. And, oh here! I got you something!" He hands me a small black box and I open it up. Inside lay a beautiful silver ring, looped onto a plain chain.

"It's...beautiful Alex. Thank you," I tell him, my cheeks a faint pink. He was too kind sometimes for my own good. He scratches the back of his neck, looking in the other direction. I don't know if it's just the sunshine landing on his blood-stained cheeks but, they seem a bit brighter. "Now," He says breaking the silence, "Let's go," And he runs, pulling me along.

I can't quite keep up and keep tripping on tiny rocks and pebbles. Alex stops and looks at me, "Here. Allow me," And before I could react, picked me up and held me in his arms. I blushed. It was like I was a princess. His arms felt warm and strong and it made me feel safe and secure. He starts running again and after a few minutes I can see a meadow. Full with yellow flowers.

He drops me off on the soft grass once we're in the middle of the meadow. I right myself up into a sitting postion right beside him, our shoulders touching, and take in my surroundings. Several rabbits, birds, and livestock stand around us. I laugh lightly, "Hello everyone," My smile felt like it was bigger than half my face. "Hello Kathrine!" They all reply. We spend all day playing with each other, I even made Alex a crown of flowers!

We wave goodbye when it's time for me to leave and I giggle, "Thank you, Alex," I say and, standing on my tiptoes give him a peck on the cheek. His face flushes, "W-what was that for?" He asked. I giggle again, smiling really big, and winked, "I just wanted you to know how happy I was," I turn to leave but, feel Alex grab onto my arm and pull me back. "Wha-" I'm cut off by his lips touching mine. My eyes widen and he let's go, looking the other way. "I just... wanted to say happy birthday," And he smiles.
