Fiona's POV:
After finishing talking to Kitara and reading all of my mother's files I decided to go to a small family restraunt to get something to eat. Afterall, I couldn't think straight on an empty stomach, no matter how motivated I may be to find out some information.
I walked down the worn dirt roads, my sneakers splashing into small mud puddles, until I saw the faded neon sign. 'Harold's Homemade Lunches'. Through the dusty windows and plaid curtains that hung from rusted window rods, I managed to spot a few people sitting around a bar area and other seating areas in the restraunt. I step inside the glass door, hearing the slight sound of the bell ring as the door swung open, and was hit with the smell of fried chicken, fresh ham and cheese samwiches, and roast beef filled yeast rolls. My mouth watered at the smell and I stepped farther in to see that the place was set up to look like a 1920s diner.
A tall, skinny blonde strutted over to me in high heels to take me to my seat and get my order. Her attitude, along with her walk, reminded me painfully of Terrie. I just hoped that her personality was less rotten... Her name tag pinned on to her bright ketchup-colored apron told me that the blonde's name was Brianna Fox. She led me to a small table in the very corner and I sat down, telling her I wanted some water, and then Brianna left me. I let out a sigh of relief, glad the reminder of Terrie was no longer in sight, and then am jolted in surprise. In my jean pocket I felt a hot burn, like a live coal was inside my pants. I quickly pull whatever was inside my pockets out, throwing the hot object onto the plastic table in front of me.
The yellow marble.
Suddenly, smoke started to rise, a sign that the hot marble was melting the plastic. The table was covered in a sticky, liquid mess, and I quickly pushed the marble away from the melted table. It landed on my lap and I picked it up while my other hand used a pile of napkins to wipe down the table. The marble suddenly became very cold, like a bike left out in the snow in the middle of winter, and I let out a sound of irritation. Only, then, Brianna was back with my water.
"Uh... Are you okay? Was the wait too long?" Brianna asked me, tilting her head to the side where I could see her metal nose piercing glitter in the artifical lights. I couldn't help but stare.
"...N-No! Not at a-all! Everything's fine!" I quickly answer after snapping out of my day dream and staring blankly at her nose. I probably seemed like a freak right now... She nods and takes out a pad of paper and a pen to write down my order. I just order some fries and a burger and quickly gulp it down when they give it to me. I wanted to leave as quickly as possible so I could figure out whatever the heck happened to that marble mom gave me.
