Fiona's POV:
We were at our hotel room now, and I'd decided to read another letter. That letter soon turn to a couple, to a few, to ten. Terrie and dad had left to get some Chinese takeout.
I finish a letter addressed on her eleventh birthday and let out a small gasp. Alex and mom? Kissed?
I shake my head in shock and shove the letters away from me. Laying down on the messy hotel bed I let out a sigh. I'd learn several things from mom's letters but, I wasn't sure if it was the truth or not...
I stand up from the bed, heading towards the bathroom, and decide to take a shower to take my mind off it. The bathroom is an ugly teal colored tiled and has old fashioned flower shower curtains. Several flies swirl around the small room and I let out a sound of disgust. Oh well, I think and step inside.
After several minutes I come out of the bathroom, a flowered towel wrapped around my slim frame, and am surprised to see Dad and Terrie sitting in the room. In their hands our pairs of chopsticks and three packages of Chinese food lie on Terrie's lap.
"H-hey," I say, giving them a small wave. Did dad know... about what happened? "Hey honey. We got you some sweet and sour chicken." Dad says, waving a pack in the air. I quickly take it and sit down on the edge of my bed, glancing at dad. Well, might as well ask.
"Hey dad...?" I say. I had to make this more casual. Less suspicious. "Muat?" He asks his mouth full. I think he's trying to say what... "Have you... ever been with anyone besides mom and... Terrie?" I ask. Terrie makes a chocking sound beside me and I can see her face flaming up. I fight the urge to laugh at her.
"Well...no," Dad answers. I smile. Then I ask what I really wanted to know, "What about mom?" Dad's eyes widen and he looks down at the ground. His face shadowing over. "Your...mother?" He whispers. He looks so dreadful, like he's almost afraid, and I regret asking anything at all. I nod my head, trying to encourage him to talk about it.
"When she lived here... in the town of Forkstoll...
I walk around the town looking for my grandfather. Suddenly, I come across a creek where I can see two figures. They seem to be holding hands and looking into each other eyes with so much emotion it feels they are one. Nothing can break them apart for all of eternity. Standing there, I feel like I'm spying on a very private moment and turn to walk away. But, as a branch breaks under my foot the two turn to the me, the source of the noise.
The girl is beautiful. With long flowing red hair and bright green eyes. She could trap anyone with her gaze. The boy seems to be a year of two older. Fifteen perhaps. But, there's something off about him. His face is white, almost dead-like. And bright red covers him. Blood? His eyes our beautiful but, they seem to hold a tinge of concealed sadness.
"Hello," The girl waves, smiling a brilliant smile. "I'm Katherine. This is Alex! Who are you?" And from day onward we were the best of friends...
