--Daddy's Home!--
No not in THAT way you pervert!
~~~
Another night went by. The new surroundings turned old and depressing. After coming from the hospital, nothing had happened. In fact, if it wasn't for the lightning scar on my shoulder, I wouldn't believe any of it had happened. I hadn't gone adventuring either. I've been avoiding it ever since the night I first arrived, and Ace hasn't pushed me to go with him because of the whole being struck by a lightning bolt thing. Eventually he'll need me to go with him again though.
Instead, I've been exploring every inch of the mansion. The only problem is that now I know exactly where everything is and there isn't much exploring left to do. It does come in handy when me and Ace play hide and seek though. And the fact that I don't get lost in the house anymore comes in handy when I want a midnight snack.
I told Henry that I was hit by a car that night. He didn't ask questions. I knew he'd seen my lightning scar, but he hadn't said anything about it. He seemed okay with the lie and wasn't going to press it.
Henry would leave me to do my own thing most of the time, which was nice. I liked the privacy. After a long day of hide and seek and generally doing nothing, Henry would come home and prepare a giant feast for when my Dad got home. Dad said he would arrive days ago but every day something comes up that requires his immediate attention so he can't leave yet.
The feasts were fun in the beginning. Me and Ace stuffed our faces, but eventually the left-overs kept stacking up and we could barely even eat dinner anymore without being completely bloated. This isn't exactly the worst thing to happen though.
The most unbearable part of the dinner is the complete silence. Henry slowly picking at his food, not speaking a word to either of us or questioning why I came home one night with a lightning scar on my shoulder. Of course, Ace caused the only noise that happened at dinner: a loud, chomping sound every time he ate any type of meat.
I'm not sure I can take it anymore.
Lying down on my bed, I looked out the window. The forest was visible from my house. It was dark and shadowed. The sun dawned, illuminating the tops of the trees with oranges and soft pinks. I dreaded what that meant: it was almost time for another feast, where I would eat everything until I couldn't physically take another bite. All in complete silence, waiting for my Dad; which may or may not come today.
I hope he comes soon. I miss him. He would make sure dinner wasn't silent. I don't think he can stand the silence, he always has to say something. Work seems to keep him so busy, but it makes him happy so I can't complain.
"Food time!" Ace sung from the first floor.
I sighed. Although I had mixed feelings about dinner, Ace loved dinner time and had created a little song for the event.
