Detective Malik (Z.M Fanfic)

Chapter 1.

"Another case solved." My assistant Louis Tomlinson says;entering my office and slamming a case file on my desk with a huge thump.

"Of course, this case was by far the easiest I've ever worked with." I smirked, crossing my legs on my desk.

"Course, any case is easy for The Detective Malik." Louis says in a mocking tone. His blue eyes look around my office before sitting down on a chair in front of my desk.

"Like what you see?" I question referring to my office. I did a little redecorating over the past weekend.

"Actually yes Zayn,new furniture?" He smiles pointing to the chair he's sitting on.

"Yup,I want my clients to feel comfortable while visiting me at my office." I say getting up from my chair to pour myself a cup of coffee. I grab my mug from my desk and pour some coffee. "Coffee?" I ask Louis and he nods in response. After I pour him a mug for himself I hand it to him.

"Thanks." He says taking a sip and I nod.

I stand next to my window,admiring the pleasant view of Manhattan. Busy streets and loud traffic noises clouding my hearing. I take another sip of my coffee still admiring the view. "So any new cases?" I ask turning around facing Louis.

"A few.. But none that would really suit you I guess." He shrugs taking another sip of his coffee.

I let out a sigh and scratch behind my neck.

"Anything wrong?" Louis questions setting his coffee down.

"Yeah.. We'll I don't know." I say biting my lip.

"What do you mean?"

"Well.. I don't know.. I guess.. I'm just tired of solving easy cases you know?" He looks at me and nods telling me to continue. "All of the cases I'm always assigned to, are just way to easy.. I just want a more complicated complex case you know? One that no one has yet to solve."

He stands up from the chair he was sitting on and walks over to me patting my back. "How about I do a bit of case hunting for you mate?"

I grin. "Really lad? You'll do it?"

"Sure." He smiles shrugging. "How about In the mean time I do some case hunting you take a little time off? I mean, you haven't had a time off in a couple of months. What about the Mrs? She must really miss you." He wiggles his eye brows making me chuckle.

"Yeah sure, thanks Louis." I chuckle. "You're right. Perrie has been on my case lately about not spending so much time with her.. maybe this will be good for me and her."

"Exactly." He grins and takes a look at his watch. "Hey it's almost the end of the day, want to close up early and grab a bite?"

"Sure." I say looking at my watch. Nearly five past six. "I'll meet you outside the building, let me just grab my coat and we'll be out."

"Okay Zayn." He says shrugging on his coat and walking out of my office.

* 6:15 Main Street Dinner; Down Town manhattan*

Louis and I are sitting down in an empty booth chatting away, waiting for our food to be delivered to us. Today was a Pretty slow day At the office. Just another case solved by me.

"Hey congrats on the solved case guys!" The waitress cheers while carrying our food with her. She sets down the plates of hamburgers in front of Louis and I.

"Thank you maddie." I smile and thank her. Maddie is a blonde who's around her mid 50's. She has blond air and blue eyes, with a few wrinkles showing up underneath her eyes.

"Thank you love." Louis says giving her a warm smile. "Now about the Case, Zayn did all the work, I was just the one who helped him get the information." He says.

"Oh hush Louis." I roll my eyes at him with a small smile.

Sure, i solve all the cases, but I could never do it without him.

"He's my partner in crime." He beams,making me chuckle.

"Yes Lou, exactly."

Louis and I go way back since highschool. I was the transferred student, and had no friends until Lou came along. We've been best lads ever since.

"Of course." Maddie smiles at the both of us before walking off to take more orders.

"So how's Perrie?" Lou asks while chewing his food. He swallows before talking again. "You said she's been on your case about work again?"

"Yeah," I say taking a sip of my coca cola. "She's been pretty uh.. Well.. Moody lately."

Suddenly his eyes go wide and starts choking on his food. "Moody?!" He coughs. "Is she pregnant? Zaynie, buddy, Mate, you're only 23, don't you think your a bit too young to have kids?"

"What? No she's not pregnant Lou! God." I chuckle. "I guess 'Moody' wasn't the best term to use yeah?"

"Oh.. Okay thank god." He sighs in relief making me laugh.

"So what about you Lou?" I smile. "Seeing anyone... a girl?... a...Guy perhaps."I smirk.

"Ha-ha very funny Zayn." He rolls his eyes at me. "I'm not seeing anyone." He states taking another bite of his hamburger.

"Whatever you say Lou.. Whatever you say." I say taking a bite of a chip. Well a fry of what Americans call 'Chips'.

"So what if I'm Bi?" He says. "Maybe I'm still confused? Maybe I'm straight after all."

"Straight?" I laugh. "Lou... Your as straight as a rainbow." I say breaking down in laughters. "I can't even oh god."

Louis glares at me but then he smirks.

" 'can't even' what? Are you a teenage girl now?" He says now laughing.

"Oh shut up, my little sisters came to visit me with my mum the other day, at least I have an excuse!" I fire back.

"Sure, Detective Hair brush, oh wait if your such an amazing detective then why can't you find your hair brush from a year ago then?"

"Hey. I told you already,it must've been Perrie,who else could it have been?"

"Guess what?"

"What?"

"It was me you idiot!" He says starting to laugh.

"What? No! Impossible!"

"Well think again detective." He smirks. "Don't worry I still have it... But I use it to comb my dogs hair."

"God dammit Lou! That was my favorite hair brush!"

"Oh well." He shrugs.
