Chapter 9

Crystal's POV

Jordan has been blabbering for the past hour about how when I left and what happened while I was gone. I wasn't really listening to her but all I heard was something about the old guy I was talking to and him cracking jokes about me and things. And I thought he was nice. She said 'he was hilarious' and started laughing. We were in the kitchen now, drinking hot chocolate talking about the most random things. Or sometimes we will have heart to heart conversations. I like that we are like this with each other, like I can tell her anything and we would still laugh about it. She would oftenly say that 'Jack wasn't a bad guy once you get to know him', but I beg to differ. I punch her in the arm.

"Ouch! It was funny! If you were there, you would've laughed too!!" She laughs. I nod.

"Maybe." I laugh, shrugging my shoulders. Then I thought for a moment. I haven't seen Cody all day today, where has he been? I snap out of my thoughts to hear Jordan talking about this cat she saw on youtube.

"Okay crazy cat lady, while you fantasize over your 'kittens' I'm gonna go find Cody." I say. She stops in mid sentence and gives me a funny looking glare.

"Don't interrupt me, and besides, you won't find him, or you might cause he kinda likes you so, go ahead." She says. I roll my eyes at her short attention spans. I get up from my chair and exit the kitchen to start my search. I start in the living room since it's beside the kitchen. That little guy has been with me through a lot of emotions. He's like my way of letting out those intense emotions by just petting his soft fur. He takes the sadness away like a sponge and replaces it with happiness, relaxation and peace. I seriously think I'm addicted to him. Like, if I don't have him in my arms, I'll go insane. It's a lot better than having Jack with me. He's nothing like Cody. I sigh. At least Cody doesn't have anger issues.

I look around the whole living room and see no sign of Cody. I walk out of the living room and into the hallway. I check every room, bedrooms, bathrooms, the dinning room, and sadly, that scary cellar I went into the other day. I didn't really go in there. I just opened the door, and called his name. Once I heard nothing, I quickly shut the door and ran up the stairs and that was the end of it. Like I said, I'm never going in there. There was two places I haven't looked though, Jacks bedroom and a door at the end of the hall. I choose the bedroom because I was expecting Jack not to be in there since the 'incident'. My hand grabs the door knob. I take a deep breathe before walking in. Too my surprise, Jack's not in here, thank god. I walk in to scope the place out for Cody.

"Cody?" I whisper yell.

"Cody!" I repeat. I checked the bathroom, the closet, behind the door, and under the bed. He's obviously not in here. I get up from my knees and stand up. While in the process of doing so, something had caught my eye. I looked at the lamp in front of me and saw something dangle from it. The crystal necklace. How did it get here? I grab it and look at it very carefully. It's still in good condition, the Crystal still a vibrant shade of blue and the silver still shining, not a single scratch.

I stare at its amazing beauty, the crystal still in the shape of a dagger. Not one thing out of place. Then it started to glow. I accidentally drop the necklace. Once i had dropped it, it stopped glowing. This is starting to freak me out. I grab it again and it glows once more. I quickly put it back on the lamp. It stops glowing again and this time, I don't even dare touching it again.

I watch it closely to see if it glows again. After a couple moments it still doesn't glow. I guess when I touch it, it glows. Remind myself never to touch it. I turn my back from the crystal and walk towards the door. I grab the handle and pull the door open. Before I close the door behind me, I check it one last time before shutting the door closed. I huff a sigh and go to the next door. As I walk closer to it, I start to hear a low muffle of voices. When I get close enough to the door, I can see the door is opened a crack so that I can peek through without anyone noticing.

"Are you sure she's safe here?" Asks a mans voice.

"This is the safest place I know, if she goes anywhere else, she'll get hurt." I hear Jack say. Who are they talking about? I sit low so they can't see me so i can hear more of the conversation.

"Good, we don't want any intruders from Mason's pack to try and take her, we know you don't want that." Says the man. Jack nods understandingly.

"But, Since that little episode you two had was loud enough for the whole house to hear, I would expect the whole house to be chattering about this." Says the man's voice. And their talking about me, how convenient. I notice that their in an office, maybe Jack's office.

"I also expect that the word had gotten out about you finding your mate to the other packs, how are we going deal with that when we also have others thinking that you two are not getting along so well." He says again. Jack ponders for the moment. I don't want to hear them chit chat, I just want to find Cody. With the limited vision I have I look around for Cody. Just as I'm about to give up I see Cody sitting on a couch in the corner. Thank the heavens! I try to call him over to get him to notice me without causing any attention to myself. Jack snaps his fingers.

"A ball." Jack calls out. The other guy looks fazed by his answer.

"A ball? I don't think that's a good idea." Says the guy.

"I think that's a great idea." I hear a familiar voice say. It can't be. I search for her in the room and finally spot her next to Jack's desk.

Jordan

"It would bring in our well acquainted packs, we could chit chat, catch up, and we could announce it to them at the same time, I think it makes a lot of sense." She says again. Not her. I trusted her. I don't want to hear any more so I try to get Cody's attention, but they keep talking.

"Alright, if you too want it, you can have it. But I don't want to be anywhere near it when it back fires." The guy says defensively putting his hands up in surrender.

"Thanks sis." Says Jack. That's when my friendship with her goes down the drain. Sister?! That's his sister?! No wonder they looked so much alike. I officially hate them both. The fact they didn't tell me kinda hurts. But, I would expect Jack not to tell me these things. I can't listen to them anymore. As I'm about to leave, I see that Cody notices me. Now you see me? He stands up on his four legs and stays their. Nooo, come here!

He still doesn't move, instead he gets aggravated that I won't come in the room and starts to bark that adorable bark. No no no! Shhhh! Stop it! That seems to grab everyone's attention as to what Cody's barking at. Everyone gathers around him asking 'what's wrong'. He continues to barks in my direction. I gotta get out of here. As soon as I stand up, I hit my head against the door knob. Do I really have to be this clumsy at the moment? Everyone notices and starts to walk towards the door. That's when I make a run for it. I bolt down the long hallway hoping none of them saw me.

But my luck turns and I hear foot steps behind me, catching up to me. I can't let them catch me. I take sharp turns hoping to lose them, but their still on my tail. I even make swerves every now and then just to throw them off. I run through the kitchen and hide in the pantry that was quiet large for a pantry. I hear the person that chased me take careful steps not to make me bolt. Too late buddy. Once I hear the person walking in front of the pantry door, I swing it open, smacking them against the wall to buy me some time. Then I start running again. Just as I'm about to turn another corner, someone grabs my wrist and pulls me too a hard chest. I look up to see Jack's angry face. I just got caught.
