Chapter 9: What's a Guardian?

(Star P.O.V)

I ran. I didn't stop neither. I ran and ran and ran and ran. What I felt was too much even for a Guardian. I needed to find a place to calm down and relax. But since I was at school, there wasn't many places to go and relax. Eventually I found myself on the roof of the school. I looked around and no one was up here. I walked towards the edge of the building and just stared out into the distance, while taking deep breaths. In and out, in and out, in and out. After a few minutes of calming, I sat down on the edge and held out my hand to bring Spark out.

Star: Spark. What are my vitals like?

Spark: Everything is OK now.

Star: Good. I don't want to feel like ever again.

Spark: What was it exactly you felt Star? Even though we are connect, I wasn't able to feel what you felt.

???: Star?

I quickly stood up and pulled Spark behind my back for protection. I looked at who just said my name. It was Shido, Tohka, and the Yamai twins.

Tohka: Who were you just talking too?

I sighed and took a step to my right to reveal Spark.

Spark: He was talking to me.

Shidos walks a bit closer to Spark to get a better look at him. I was almost tempted to push him away, but resisted because I didn't want to start a scene

Shido: What are you?

Spark: I'm a Ghost. Well more importantly I'm his Ghost.

Yuzuru: Question. What's a Ghost?

Before Spark could tell them, I cut him off.

Star: Shido.

Shido and his friends turned toward me, while I'm looking at him with a serious face.

Star: I need your help.

(Location: Shido House)

I was currently at Shido's house, sitting at the dining table. In front of me was Shido, next to him on his left was Kotori and on his right was Reine. Next to me was Miku and Yuzuru. Beside Yuzuru was her sister Kaguya and next to Miku was Yoshino. Tohka was sitting in the living room on the couch. I had my armor on but I kept my helmet off. It wouldn't be nice and I doubt they would of believe anything I said if I kept my face hidden from them. I extended my hand to have Spark around.

Reine: Before we start, tell us this. What is exactly a Guardian?

Star: Guardians are immortal beings of the Light. We serve the Traveler and defend it with our life's. We also defend the Last City.

Miku: Last City?

Star: Yes. The last place humanity can a safe place.

Yoshino: Safe from what?

Star: The Darkness.

Kotori: Could you explain a bit more?

I looked at her and just nodded my head.

Star: Centuries ago, when humanity was finally able to travel to Mars. We discovered something. Something that would change our world forever. We called it the Traveler. And with it, came changes. Changes to our world for the good. Technology advanced by leaps and bounds. Cities were build on distant planets and moons. Mercury was turned into a garden world. Our world population tripled. This is what we came to known as the Golden Age. This time would only last for a few centuries. The Traveler had an enemy, known as the Darkness. With the Darkness arrival brought many enemies that would threatened humanity. The Darkness destroyed everything we did. We faced extinction. That was until the Traveler sacrifice itself to save humanity. And with its sacrifice brought life to the Ghost. The Ghost searched our desecrated planet for dead people who the Traveler chose.

Tohka: Dead people?

Star: Once the Ghost finds the ones they were looking for. They would be resurrected and becomes Guardians. Immortal beings, wielders of the Light. But with becoming a Guardian comes at a cost.

Miku: What is exactly is this cost?

Star: We don't remember our past.

Shido: So? You're saying that you remember nothing of your past? Why don't you just look into it? Search for who you are.

Star: I can't. The Venguard made it where Guardians aren't allowed to do so.

Yuzuru: Question. Why don't they allow it?

Star: Because Guardians could become obsess with finding out their past. Instead of defending the Last City and the Traveler. That's why it is forbidden to do so.

Shido: I see. But why exactly are you here? Why aren't you defending the City?

I took a deep breath.

Star: The City is lost.

Everyone looked at us with shocked faces.

Reine: What do you mean?

Spark: The Last City was attacked by the Red Legion.

Kotori: Red Legion?

Star: They are the elites of their race. Shido, remember that creature I killed when we first met?

Shido: Yeah why?

Star: That was a Psion. They were once conquer by the Cabal, but they fight along side them now. The Cabal are the reason why I am here. The reason why we lost the Light.

Shido: Hmm. What was it that you needed our help?

Star: Help me reclaim the Light and find the Titan.

Hello everyone! Sorry for the late chapter. I recently bought the entire Call of Duty Modern Warfare collection and I've been playing that, plus some other games. I will hopefully try to get the next chapter out as soon as possible.
