Chapter 20

Back to Yuzu's POV

After hearing the news from ston, I can't do anything about it.
I'm just clenching my fists tightly, holding in my anger.
I then felt a pair of warm soft hands on mine.
"Yuzu...lets go, tell your friend it's time to take our leave." Mei said quietly looking down.
"Y-yeah I'll tell ston." I said.
"Don't worry Yuzu, I know the both of you have to go." Ston said, while putting the tip on the table.
"Yeah, good catch on hearing Mei." I said while laughing and Mei squeezes my hand like she's about to break it.
"Mei...please...let go" I said while wincing playfully as a joke.
Mei doesn't let go of my hand instead she just loses her death grip.
"Well I'll be taking my leave. Walk home safe Yuzu and Mei." Ston said whiling leaving the cafe.
I sigh deeply and lean back.
"Please don't worry about the problem Mei.." I said but Mei squeezes my hand even more.
"I should worry about it...besides..."
Mei said but was looking for the words.
"If you're going to protect me...then...I will protect you the best I can." Mei said sternly.

I smiled, but then I put my hand on her shoulder.
"Don't worry we have all the time in the world before he shows up." I said but then Mei headbuts me.
"Ow-" I managed to say before Mei kissed me softly.
I was surprised by this action but kissed her back.

"Ahem.." I heard the waiter said.

I then pulled away quickly blushing and Mei did the same.
"Uh- sorry! We will leave right now." I said and grabbed Mei's hand dragging her out with me.
I sigh and look at Mei.
"Heh we should probably get going."
I said calmly while I started walking.
"Yuzu..." Mei said.
"Hm? Yes Mei?"
"Do you think...nevermind." Mei said sighing.
"No! Mei tell me!" I said with pleading eyes.
She sighs deeply.
"Do you think...we can start the school trip, since...you know you're in danger?" Mei said looking down.
"Yes Mei it's alright, I'll be fine." I said with a reassuring voice.

Once we get to the house, me and Mei were greeted by our mom and dad.
"What took you guys so long!" My mom said with sadness in her voice.
"Heheh mom...can we talk in private?" I said. My mother nods and I lead her to her room.
Once she closes the door I start speaking.

"Mom...he's after me...again" I said calmly but I knew I was just holding my anger.
"I know...how do you think we should do this Yuzu?" My mother said.
"I think it's best if we make Mei and father leave." I said, deep down it hurt me badly to know that I'll be gone from Mei for months...or years.
"Are you sure you want to do this Yuzu?" My mother said with worry in her voice.

"I told Mei I'll protect her, and this is how I will do it." I said sternly.
"Very well...I'll tell sho about this so he knows the plan...does Mei know?" My mother said.
"No she doesn't..." I lied.
"Very well...just spend the rest of the week with her before we go." My mother said now walking out the room.

I look down sighing, tears threatening  to fall but I knew it wasn't the time to cry.
I'll give Mei the best week before I go..
