"Move the boxes into the quinjet. We're gonna need all the equipment we can fit in there."
Tony Stark watched from his drama-king-sized pilot chair as Captain America relayed orders. The rest of the Avengers were preoccupied hoisting things into the main body of the craft. Dani in particular was struggling under a large stack of computers. Just as he was about to get up and help, red strands of light curled along the edge of the pile, lifting them out of Dan's hands. The fifteen year old shot a grateful grin at Wanda as she passed, and hopped into the jet.
"Why do we need all of this?" Wanda asked as she lay the computers down.
"We're setting up on the way over." Tony responded, "With what the Squirt told us, we don't have the time to waste. FRIDAY hasn't even finished running the numbers on the location, just a rough patch of ocean."
Dani bounced over, "Do I get an earpiece? Are you gonna do an inspirational speech?"
Tony swivelled in his chair so he faced the controls, "No, and ask Cap."
"Coffee!"
Wanda and Tony could just hear Dan calling after Steve as she hurried off. Tony sent a small smile to the autopilot as he keyed in some rough coordinates.
"You didn't need to do that." Wanda remarked offhandedly, "He has got a lot to worry about."
Tony took a second before spinning to face her, "Are you still here? Aren't you meant to be leaching away my money or something?"
"You do know I am only three years older than Atteberry?" Wanda asked.
Tony sniffed, "Your point being?"
"The way you treat us," Wanda explained, "Like I'm an adult and she's five."
"That's different." Tony turned back, "You just need to talk to Dani to know there's something..."
Wanda's expression turned hostile, "Wrong?"
He pulled a face, "Okay, that's not what I meant and you know it. The Squirt's... It's like she's keyed into a different frequency."
She didn't get a chance to respond. The rest of the team piled into the space, arranging themselves around the edges. Steve entered last, with a nod to Tony, "We're ready to fly."
Dani trailed after him, eyes brimming with excitement.
"Speech!" Tony hollered.
Steve rolled his eyes and gritted his teeth, but his expression showed his relenting. He locked eyes with each and every person there before saying, with the most commanding tone yet, "Don't die."
Tony turned to Dan, "Well, what did you think, Squirt?"
"It sounded patriotic." Dani allowed, but even she sounded unconvinced.
The engineer rolled his eyes, "Everything sounds patriotic if he says it. Cap, raise one fist in the air and shout 'I'm gonna die alone'."
Steve sighed, "I'm not going to do that, Tony."
"Spoilsport." he muttered.
"Let's just get this thing in the air." Steve ordered tiredly.
Dani hopped up onto the seat next to Captain America as the jet thrummed to life, "Hello, Coffee."
"Hey, Dan." Steve smiled. A moment later, he seemed to realise what he had just said, "Wait. What the hell are you doing here?"
Her eyebrows tugged together in confusion, "Well, I said 'hello, Coffee' and then-"
