Chapter 2: Meet your teammates

After leaving the hotel, I head to my parents house to explain to them how I had found a job and I was having to move down to London. When they asked I told them it was working as a company executive, as I was told to tell nobody about becoming a secret agent. I left their house after about an hour, after promising I would stay in touch every day.

I've been driving for 2 hours nearly and done about 90 miles in the car and it's already about 4:30PM. I have about 2 hours left till I get there.

There is something strange that I've noticed though on my journey. 3 black cars, have been driving in exactly the same direction as me. One by one they've each started following me, and it's starting to get to me a bit.

Just relax Ellie I tell myself. I Decide to come off the motorway at the nearest junction, as I could use the break from driving, stopping at the services.

I park up and get out of the car, the three black cars also starting to park up. I hurry myself to the entrance of the services and head inside, but I know that I am being followed.

I have now sat a table in the café, where I am trying to chill out a bit and relax; but something isn't right. There's the constant feeling that I'm being watched. Maybe it's just me being paranoid, but I'm starting to think more and more that something is wrong.

I stand up from my table after finishing my coffee and start to head towards the exit, all of a sudden an echoing boom sound rips through the air as a bullet is shot from a gun.

Chaos starts to break out throughout the whole services; people trying to run and get out, others seeking cover. I sprint towards the exit with the intention of getting back to my car as fast as I possibly can, despite it being at the other end of the car park. I look back for a second and I'm being chased by the three people that had been following me in their cars, all three of them holding a gun

They're trying the kill me!

I'm starting to get closer to my car now but I need to do something. I've created a distance between me and them for now. I unlock my car and reach for the pocket knife I keep in the glove box for emergencies.

Not wasting any time I frantically create holes in all the tires of the other cars.

They're getting closer now, I need to get out of here before they kill me. I jump back into my car and start it up as fast as humanly possible, speeding away as they start to fire their guns at me. A couple of bullets managed to just skim my car, luckily not damaging it by much.

It'll take ages for them to get anywhere I I think to myself. However there was something strange about them though. They didn't seem to have much experience with holding a gun, and I had never seen them before so why would they want to try and kill me?

"Your destination is 98 miles away, you should reach it by 17:53PM." My phone says.

about 2 hours, at least I can focus on my driving now and won't have to worry about any more disturbances.

~Time lapse~

I reach my destination and park my vehicle in a parking space just in front of the headquarters. It has rained for most of the journey, but it only stopped about 10 minutes ago. The building is made from stone brick and looks like nobody has lived anywhere near it for years. I walk inside anyway, despite the ugly looks on the outside.

I stop in my tracks when I get through the entrance though... it's so modern and high tech inside. I suppose they made it hidden from everyone to not get noticed i think to myself in realisation.

A man of high authority walks up to me. "Hello, and welcome. You are?" He asks.

"Oh, Lily Hughes." I reply.

"Ok, it's nice to meet you Agent Hughes, we're so glad you made it. The others got held up, because of a problem with their cars. I'm Ashton, head of the Society of Special Agents. Just take a seat, make yourself at home and I'm sure the others will be here soon." He says.

I freeze by those words he just said. Damn. The others must of been the three that I saw earlier, I completely forgot there were others joining at the same time as me.

"Umm. Ashton." I say before he walks away from me.

"Yes, what is it?" He asks turning back around to face me.

"I think I saw the others earlier, I thought they were trying to kill me because they were firing their guns at me." I say nervously.

"Ok, that's fine," he replies as though nothing is wrong "They clearly didn't realise who you were. As soon as they arrive I will get them to confirm it and then we can sort it." He adds.

Not long after he said that; the three people I saw earlier enter the building, and they're absolutely drenched.

"Welcome," Ashton says walking towards them
"I take it you're the three who got a bit held up?" He asks.

The only woman with the two men had smudged makeup with her blonde hair soaked. She noticed me and immediately gives me a death glare. She then points towards me "It was her, she sabotaged our cars!" She shouts still glaring at me.

"You tried to kill me!" I respond.

"Well how were we supposed to know who you were?" She asks in an angry tone.

"Ladies please, calm down," Ashton says. " it was clearly a big misunderstanding, but there is one thing I can't tolerate, and that's rivalry. Now, if you would follow me to your accomodation" he says in a demanding voice.

The woman storms past me following Ashton, as well as the brown haired man behind her. My eyes reach the floor in guilt, feeling bad for what had happened earlier. The other man appears next to me as we're walking and I lift my head as he starts to speak.

"Don't worry about Kendra, she can be a little; in your face sometimes, just don't take it personally. I'm Vinny by the way." He says as we all follow Ashton.

"Lily," I say "And no kidding about abrupt." We both giggle a bit about it.

"Well I should know more than anyone, being her brother." He replies.

"Oh sorry, I didn't mean to b.." my voice is cut off by him.

"No no, don't worry about it. It's probably a good thing you stood up to her, put her in her place a bit haha."

"And here, is where your house is Agent Renick." Ashton says as we notice we're the only two agents left.

"Oh that's me. so I'll see you later. It was nice to meet you Lily." Vinny says.

"And you." I reply before he enters his room.

Were we really talking for that long we forgot our surroundings?

Me and Ashton continue to walk along the corridor until we reach a room not far from Vinny's.

"And this is your house Agent Hughes," he says cheerfully "and don't worry about what Kendra said. Training will begin at 9:00 AM tomorrow.

"Thank you." I reply as he hands me a set of keys. He starts to walk back down the hallway, before I enter my room and lock the door behind me.

It is just like a normal house, you wouldn't even notice it's inside another building it's that large. loads of space in each room, although it needs a bit of updating but I can do all that when I get paid. I begin to unpack my things and settle into my new home.

God today has been very eventful to say the least. First I thought I was going to be killed, then one of those people who I thought were bad became my friend. I don't think Kendra likes me all that much though. I get the feeling she'll be watching me very closely throughout our training and probably trying to subtlety make my life hell. Hopefully we aren't going to be near each other that much, but at least her brother Vinny is more down to earth.
