Chapter 6: Agents Required

Quick Note:
This chapter has time lapsed by 2 weeks as the story would get very boring if I wrote a lot of chapters of Lily in the hospital ward.

Two weeks have passed slowly, but I have now pretty much fully recovered, I'm just having to take it slowly for a bit.

In terms of my training, I've been unable to do any of the physical training at this moment, because it is high intensity and under Ashton's orders the training was postponed until me and Vinny had fully recovered. That means that instead we have been working on more theory type work, although Ashton told me and Vinny that we could have as much rest as we needed.

The doctor says it won't be long before I will be at full health again, she said just a few more days and I will be back to normal. Vinny is in a similar state, a couple more days and he will also be fully recovered.

Today I'm going to resume my normal training at 8:15, but it's going to be on using technological gadgets.

I head across to the elevator and press the ground button. I arrive at the training room only to find we have a different coach today. He has Auburn brown hair in a quiff style.

"Good morning agents, my name is Tom, and today I shall be teaching you all what you need to know about any gadgets you may need to use on your missions." He says introducing himself.

"So firstly, I'm sure you'll have all seen your Agent handbook." He says before he stops because of my hand raised.

"Yes?" He asks.

"I haven't been given a handbook." I say.

"Oh right, here you can have mine," he says handing a book to me "I already went through my training, and I know nearly every weapon that can be used by secret agents."

"Anyway as I was saying. Your handbook is the key essential for any new starting agent, but if you're looking for a specific gadget, they're all in that book." He explains.

He holds up a black and silver device "Now, does anyone know what this is?" He asks.

"Yeah. It's a phone." Kendra says looking at Tom as though he was stupid.

"Ahh and that's where you are wrong Miss renick, anyone else?" He asks checking if anyone else has an answer.

I raise my hand.

"Yes." He says.

"I don't know exactly what it does, but it looks like a multi functional device made to look like a phone?" I ask.

"Correct, well done," he says "what's your name?" He asks.

"Agent Hughes." I reply.

"Well Agent Hughes, I can see you've been doing some research into the gadgets of an agent." He says complimentary.

5 hours pass and we have learnt so much about the gadgets available to us, and their uses. Tom gave us each a smart watch that gives us incoming updates, and can be used for many other uses.

We all head over to the restaurant for our lunch, as we hadn't had any breakfast because the training was earlier than the usual time, which I found a bit strange.

After the meal, I was on my way back to my house when I felt my smartwatch vibrate as I look down at my wrist there is a message displayed reading:

"All new agent recruits are required to meet Ashton in the head office located on the top floor immediately."

I find the others and we all start to make our way up in the elevator heading to the top floor. We walked down a corridor we hadn't been down before. It must be where the main offices are. We approached Ashton's office and knocked on the door before entering.

His office was a very large modern style look with lots of natural light flooding in from the windows and a white, grey and black colour scheme with limited colour. You could tell it was made for the boss of the S.O.S.A.

"Please, sit" He instructed as we each took a seat. There was a total of about 10 of us, but I only knew the 3 others I train with.

"Now, the reason I have brought you all here is because we have an issue that we need your help with. Recently a number of our agents were set out on a mission out on the field and not a single one made it back. Some were killed, others we believe have been captured and held in captivity. Somehow, a criminal hacked into our system and managed to obtain information from our databases, which we believe is why they were able to stop our mission. we need two agents to go under cover to track and report for us. The reason why you 10 agents are here is because you were not registered onto the database when it was hacked, therefore we are picking two agents who are unknown and would be able to keep a low profile and in a way be invisible. I understand you agents have only begun the start of your training, but we need two agents that are brave enough to put themselves forward. It's is a big risk sending you out on a mission this soon, however it is vital that we gather some information from this mission..." Ashton explains
"Now would anyone like to put themselves forward?" Ashton asks

The whole room fell to silence and nobody was going to willingly put themselves forward to the job. I raised my hand slowly and partly nervously said "I'll do it" whilst the whole room turned to look at me adding to my nervousness.

"Thank you agent Hughes, now we need a male agent to put themselves forward as well please."

Once more the room was quiet, but after a few moments another hand went up. It was Vinny.

"I will do it Ashton" he said

"Right thank you agent Renick. Now the rest of you please go back to what you were doing as you are no longer needed" Ashton said.

After that, the other 8 agents stood up from their seats and left the office, making their way back down to the lower floors.

"Now if you two would follow me please." Ashton says as we stand up and follow him to the other end of the office.

He pressed a small button that blended into the wall revealing a secret passage that blended in perfectly with the wall. We start to follow him down this secret passage of stairs to a corridor with a few doorways at the sides and one at the end.

We enter through the end door into a meeting room with about 8 people sat around of high authority. Ashton joins them round the table and we take the two seats spare at the other side.

"Now Lily, Vinny, these people sat with us are a mix of the top 2 agents in our database, the head of London, and also some of the team leaders of the special agents at this HQ" Ashton explains.

"Ashton I can't see how this is going to work at all" one woman starts, she's another agent.

"We cannot send two untrained agents out on such a big mission like this, it's way too risky" a team leader adds.

The whole room starts to debate and argue about the risks involved and why me and Vinny shouldn't be sent on this mission.

"ENOUGH!" Ashton speaks loudly causing the others to be quiet "I am very well aware that there are many risks involved with this mission, but what other choice have we got? If any of our existing agents get sent out we will lose them, just as we have lost the others. I made sure these two agents were aware of these risks before they put themselves forward for the task." He adds.

"Sir we haven't been informed what it is we're doing once we are there" Vinny says.

"Right, well we have received Intel that some criminal masterminds are going to be gathering at a private event down on the southern coast of Cornwall to plan some evil plot. Your tasks are to 1)Establish who is there. And 2)Try and find out what it is they're planning." He explains.

"Ok" Vinny replies.

"Oh yeah and one more thing. Whatever you do, do not blow your cover, if they find out you are secret agents, they will not hesitate to kill you." Ashton says seriously. "Now make your way down to the lab to obtain your briefing and receive your gadgets" he adds as the three of us leave the meeting room.
