Chapter Three // The Witch
Merida
I slip off my shoes, putting my hair up in a ponytail. "Mother, are you home?!" I shout, my voice echoing through the house.
No response.
Of course she's not home, she's never home. Ever since dad died, she's gone on drinking benders, always coming home drunk. One time she came home so mad she broke the living room window.
Bugs would constantly come in, and I have a thing with bugs. She didn't even bother to get it fixed, I was the one who had to call for it to get fixed.
She also brings random men to the house for one night stands. I don't understand her method for grief....it doesn't make sense.
I have to look after her, when I'm the daughter. I suddenly hear a crashing sound from the shack outside my house. I frown, looking out the window. "What the hell?" I mumble. I quickly run to the shack to see what broke.
Instead, I find an Angel.
No- not an Angel. This dude was unconscious in my shack- he had broken a whole shelf and part of the wall which fell on top of him, all the objects too.
His wings were gold. "What creature is this?" I ask. I shut my eyes to sense it's being. "An Angel Demon breed....very unusual," I utter to myself. It kind of frightened me.
I've never heard of this kind of Supernatural being...an Angel Demon. I'm a witch, so I have some sort of connection to the Supernatural despite me being human.
I could sense that this Angel Demon had both the abilities of an Angel, and a Demon. That means he could defeat Soul Keepers, Angels, and Demons. He was almost invincible.
The only other creatures that could fight with him are Reapers and Witches.
Whatever, I can cloak myself if he tries to harm me.
I walk towards him, and kneel down next to him. I place two fingers on his forehead, and shut my eyes. "Awaken," my mind whispers to his.
Suddenly he jolted upwards, breaking the wooden shelf even more, having many huge splinters fly towards me. I frown, quickly lifting my hand up to stop the splinters from hurting me.
The splinters drop midair, away from me. "What's going on? What am I doing here?!" he asks, looking alarmed.
He then looks closely at me. "You're a witch," he concludes. "What have you done with me?!" he exclaims.
I sigh, standing up. "You're the one who somehow crashed into my shed, and broke my stuff," I state, irritatedly.
He looks around. "Sorry about that," he mumbles, standing to his feet. He suddenly groans, holding his right wing. I look at his wing closely, and see a bit of it from the top is disconnected from his body.
"What happened to you?" I ask. "A Soul Keeper tried to cut my wing off," he explains. He seemed to be in a huge amount of pain. "You're a witch, you can fix this!" he exclaims.
I nod. "Yea, I can fix it if I wanted to," I reply. "Please, fix my wing," he begs. I shake my head. "Why the hell would I do that? You're a creature that can defeat Angels, Demons, and Soul Reapers. You could become corrupt and try and take over a planet or dimension," I state.
He sighs. "I'm not that crazy. All I'm trying to do is survive- the council is hunting me to send me to the eternal flames," he says.
"What did you do?" I ask. He sighs.
"Well, I was born I guess," he answers.
Right. Mixture of breeds is an abomination to Supernaturals. "I personally don't think you being born is worthy for the eternal flames," I say, shrugging my shoulders. "Exactly!" he agrees.
"That's actually kind of epic- that two rival creatures falling in love and creating a new and powerful offspring," I continue.
"The court case didn't even take ten minutes, they immediately decided I was unworthy of life," he said, a glare suddenly appearing on his face.
"One day I'll go up there and blow up their whole council....I can also kill them in one fell swoop. If my life can be taken so easily, so can theirs," he growls.
I run my fingers through my hair letting out a huff of air.
"That's the Demon side of you talking. Until you submit your Demon side, I will not fix your wing," I speak.
"What? Come on!" he exclaims.
"I don't want to fix your wing and release you just for you to go killing innocents in heaven and hell because of what they did to you," I state.
"So until I see you have gotten the idea of revenge out of your mind, I refuse to fix your wing," I utter.
He sighs. "Fine. Let's do this your way then. What is your name, Witch?" he asks.
"Merida Louise DumBroch- yours?" I ask. "Jack Areal Overland," he replies.
"Okay Jack. You need to find a place to stay, because you aren't living with me," I say. "Wait, can I please just stay in your shack?" he asks. I sigh.
"Alright. Just don't break anything else," I reply.
