As Bethany stepped on the gas pedal, Nubia and I got flown back into our seats. From my window I could see Jackson, who was still bleeding out of his head, rolling around on the floor, most likely cussing us out.
We finally left Axel's parking lot and Zennor turned around to see us, her seatbelt tightening on her shoulder.
- "Who the hell was that guy?" she said, as she panted drastically.
- "That was Jackson, one of the dumbest guys in the football team and biggest player, right alongside Axel." said Bethany.
I turned my my face around, exploring Bethany's car when I noticed Nubia frowning. If she was experiencing what I thought she was experiencing, then this wouldn't be a good year.
- "What's wrong, Nubia?"
- "Huh? Oh. Nothing, just thinking."
- "You sure?"
- "Positive."
Zennor turned back to face the front and her seatbelt finally stopped grasping her neck. Her cheeks were bright red and just as I was about to ask what happened, she shot up.
- "He slapped me."
Bethany quickly looked at Zennor with a disgusted look on her face and without even looking back in front of her, she stepped on the breaks.
- "Are you serious, Zennor? How could you let him do that to you? How did you even get into such situation?"
- "He kept trying to hit on me and I just ignored him, then Noëlle left and I guess he stepped up to me, dragged me to the other side of the room and pushed himself on me. After that, he was about to slap me again and Nubia cracked a bottle on his head."
Nubia grinned.
- "That guy is loco, Zen. Stay away from him." I said.
- "Will do. By the way, why did you leave me alone?"
- "I went to go get you a drink since you looked bored as heck. I figured he wouldn't do anything, hence nine out of ten times the only thing he does is talk. I'm sorry."
- "It's fine..."
Bethany put the radio up and everyone in the car went silent. Nubia was looking out the window, still frowning, Zennor was laid back on the passengers seat, glued to her phone, and Bethany was focused on driving.
I didn't want to tell any of them what I had thought while running, but honestly, they were perfect for my plan.
Nubia was agile, she had strong and long legs, she could clearly run and jump over everything. She also announced when we met that she was here for athleticism, so I figured she must've done track or something similar in Egypt. Zennor didn't really have much to look at, she was just focused the entire time, but I knew there had to be more to her than that. Everyone has a talent. Bethany had relations with everyone. She knows everyone in our school and she knew them well. One thing they all shared in common was logic. Nubia knew to run, Zennor knew to stay quiet, Bethany knew to join us. All that was left to discover was whether they were up for a challenge, a long one.
- "What do you guys want to do when you graduate?" I said to break the tension.
- "Nothing." said Zennor, almost instantly.
