(A/N: Green Day lyric from the song Homecoming.)
Dipper's POV
The sunlight shined in my face as I began to open my eyes. It was morning and from the looks of it, 7-8 in the morning. At least that's what I thought. Quite frankly, I could care less as to what time it is. All I knew is that I could continue sleeping.
I closed my eyes and began to fall back asleep. At least I tried to anyway. Being this tired, I didn't even want to go through all the trouble to shut the curtains. So I just turned around and had my back facing the sunlight.
Then I shot my eyes open as I remembered what day it is: The first day of summer. And that means we can go back to Gravity Falls! Right after I continue sleeping.
Just as I was about to go back to dream land, I heard a loud snore from the vent leading to the room next to me. It was Mabel. Since we're here, I might as well prank Mabel in her sleep for once. Finally!
I opened my door slowly and began to survey the area from the little crevice of it. My breaths were slow and quiet, making sure that I wasn't giving away my position and that I could hear anyone who was passing by. It was quiet... too quiet. Perfect for me to prank. I quietly did an mischievous chuckle to myself as I went to Mabel's room.
My bedroom door creaked as I opened it. I cringed at the sound of it, hoping it didn't give away my position. Doing a double take, I checked the whole area, nothing. I let a sigh of relief and tip toed to Mabel's room.
There were small creaks with each step I took. Like before, I cringed and grited my teeth. Sneaking up on Mabel wasn't as easy as it looked. To be fair, it's not really easy to sneak up on someone unless you're a ninja or something.
I snuck up to Mabel and slowly rose up. This is it. This is the moment I scare the crap out of my sister. I pulled out an air horn and readied the button.
I pressed the button and... it did nothing. I pressed it again and nothing. Oh no! It's not working!
"Having trouble, Mason?" Mabel mumbled. She said so quietly, like a whisper. I almost didn't catch it.
I furrowed my brows at her and listened to her. Her soft snoring had stopped.
She suddenly popped out of her bed. "Surprise!" She yelled into my ear. With the actual working air horn... dammit! She was already awake.
Our dad came into Mabel's room to see what was going on. Now that I think about it, that whole debacle did cause a lot of noise.
"What is going on here?!" Dad yelled.
"I was going to prank Mabel but she switched the air horn I was going to use." I replied.
Dad sighed and pinched the bridge of his nose. He then looked up at both of us. Mom began to walk behind Dad. They both looked drowsy, like they haven't slept all night.
"Well whatever you're doing, please tone it down or just go to bed." Møm said. Her voice sounded hoarse and partially rough. To be fair, we did wake them up while they were asleep.
I got up and stretched. As I stretched I heard a loud "POP!". I think that was my spine. Since Weird-Maggedon, I've been able to take a lot more damage.
I had packed some stuff earlier the week for the trip to Gravity Falls. Unlike Mabel who was still trying to stuff her suit case. She continued to jump on her bag to get it to fit. Eventually she called to me to help her out.
"Alright, Mabel. On the count of three, we'll jump on the bag on the same time. Three... two-"
"Wait, wait, on three or one two three then go?"
