Third Person POV
For the past couple of hours or so, Pacifica's band has been playing. All of them were almost out of energy but still wanted to play. The last song played by them was Green Day - Longview. After the band had taken a break that was a little longer than the last one, the former heiress knew actually what to play next.
Robert, Pacifica, and Soos, went into the backstage and all collapsed onto a nearby seat, exhausted from their music. The heat from the stage lights brought gratuitous amounts of sweat all over their foreheads, armpits and backs. Both Robert and Pacifica were feeling rather light headed from their singing, however good it may have been. A knock brought about their attention, but made no movement to open the door.
"Come in." Pacifca groaned.
Her boyfriend, Philip had walked in the backstage. Pacifica's face lit up at the person who came in. They greeted each other with a hug. She smelled like vanilla, as opposed to her old flowers and champagne smell however traces of it was still there.
"You were amazing up there, Paz. I'm so proud of you."
"Thanks, Phil." She replied softly.
She stared into his eyes before pecking him on lips. Robert turned the other direction. It had always made him uncomfortable when she and Phil kissed each other in public or in view in general. Not being able to the moment, he walked out of there to grab a drink.
Once Robert was outside, he slouched his head back, inhaling the outside air. It had the scent of pine leaves, sweat and a pinch of perfume and cologne. Music played while Robert took a breather I'm the outdoors.
"Hey, Robert!" Said Mabel as she suddenly popped out of the blue, making him yelp.
"Geez, Mabe. You scared me." He said with a slight chuckle.
"Sorry, I just wanted to stop by and say that you were great up there."
"Thanks..."
A looming silence then rolled over them. None knew how to make the conversation go further or what to say. Despite Mabel's rather exuberant ability to prepare and create, she had nothing. For once she was stumped. Since her time at her school back in Piedmont, she's learned to slow things down while still having that hyperactive, childlike mindset in overdrive. Not that they're killing her child like mindset, just... maturing for lack of a better term.
"You wanna grab a drink or something? My throat hurts From all the singing." He asked to break to the tension.
"Sure!" She responded enthusiastically.
They went over to a nearby table with all the food and drinks and grabbed a drink for themselves. The two of them spent some time together, taking and laughing. It was as if the whole world had stopped and was almost invisible to them. Nothing else was there but their moment together. Suddenly a song caught their attention: Bobby Darin - Beyond the Sea. The boy smiled slightly and hummed to lyrics of the song.
Mabel also began to hum as well before they noticed each other doing the same thing. She smiled and got an idea. It was a bit risky but he's not Gideon, so he gets points for that.
"Hey, Mabel. You wanna..." he said nervously. The brunette girl could tell that this was his first time asking a girl to this.
"Yes, I'd like to dance."
They made their way to dance floor and slowly swayed. Robert was sweating bullets as was Mabel. She was always care free when it came to guys. On rare occasions did she ever meet a genuinely nice guy. And even then, he was taken.
Dipper watched from afar, jaw dropped and eyes wide open. Pacifica on the other hand was ecstatic. When she thought about Mabel and Robert, she thought they would hate each other. On the contrary, they seem to getting along well. Pacifica, being excited about the whole ordeal pulled her phone and began to record them. Once the boy had noticed them, it did not make things any easier.
Mabel could feel his missteps when he danced. In fact, they almost fell over a few times. Along with a few bumps along the way, they both got the hang of it. However, Mabel didn't have his full attention. So she came up with a little plan of sorts.
She cupped his cheeks and simply turned him to face in her direction of her face. Robert almost froze up entirely at the sudden action of her's.
"Don't pay attention to them." She whispered.
His nerves calmed by Mabel as he took in her beauty. Neither of them would admit it (currently at least) but they found each other adorable. They gazed into each other's eyes, her simple visage calming his nerves, despite her eccentric personality.
"So... this isn't what it's like to dance with a girl." He quipped.
"Never danced with a girl before?"
"Nope. But you'd be surprised what you can learn on google. Heck, I think I've learned more on social media than school has taught me."
"I think I know someone who would disagree." She said while gesturing in the general direction where Dipper and a few others were.
The others simply gazed at the sight, laughing slightly and yet appreciating the moment happening in front of them, including Dipper. Truth be told he was tired of Mabel trying to flirt with some guy she found attractive and gave up on him the next day.
