Ummm... hello there. You seem lost. Wait... you say you're here on purpose? Do you even know where you are? This place is for those of us who aren't... how should I put this? Living... yeah, that's the word. This is The Flow. The place where the souls of our people travel to for eternal motion. You don't appear to be connected. You're not of this world at all, are you? Interested in learning about us, huh? Well, the world isn't at its best at the moment but I'll do my part in informing you of our glory, Stranger. There's only one problem... I haven't introduced myself.
I am Kilik Destino, a soul lost fighting for the Kingdom of Jinesis. I'll tell you more about that along the line but for now, I'll explain why our world is struggling. There are two sides to this planet. They are The Overworld and, obviously, The Underworld. The Overworld is full of luscious landscapes; ranging from vast grasslands to deep jungles and barren deserts to frozen peaks. The Underworld isn't as varied in composition. Most of the land there is full of soot or is a compilation of sand and rock made from the many volcanoes of the realm. Here in The Flow, we exist in a plane of existence that is usually only tangible to those who have passed away. There is nothing here but the constant flow of spirits and energy that is pulled by either side of this world by beings that have learned to harness this resource.
Each side has a leader decided by their own processes. The Overworld's most recently elected leader, General Salem Goodwind, has made some questionable decisions that have altered much of the world's balance. To his defense, the circumstances that arose were drastic and sudden. Let's take a look into what caused one of the main decisions. I'll open a window in time for you. What do you mean you can't see? Hmm... interesting. Maybe it's the effect of you actually being alive while in The Flow. No worries, I'll just describe what's going on to you. Are you ready?
It's been almost exactly ten years since The Overworld signed a peace treaty with the ruler of The Underworld, Lord Caius Detruire. Probably the best thing to happen to this planet, but on the anniversary of that great accomplishment, there was an event that started to shape everything that's happening these days.
Lord Caius, an elder of the dark side of this world, is resting in a large chair near an enormous window in his office. The 6'8" demon is gazing out of his window when he hears footsteps nearing his office doors. Usually, a person would show respect when approaching a leader's office by knocking or waiting to be acknowledged, but this character was not having any of that. A fellow demon of much smaller stature enters the room without permission but does not seem to be in any rush or panic.
Damien Zalitz, the intruder, stands boldly at 5'9" in the elder's doorway. Dressed in his uniform, the well-decorated officer appears to be on a mission. He has an awkward grin on his face. "What are you doing here Colonel Zalitz? Is there an emergency?" Caius asks as he rises from his seat.
Ignoring his elder's question, Damien slowly begins to walk towards Caius while examining the office. The room has a high vaulted ceiling with four columns purposefully placed across it. The floor is covered by a massive, ornate rug with a golden gadget in the center. The gadget expels a projection of the Underworld. At the opposite end of the rug is a desk with notes, books, and other items scattered on its top. Behind the desk is a wall decorated with paintings of previous rulers that once owned this castle that Caius now dwells within. "What do you see when you look out of that window, My Lord?" asks the young demon.
Caius takes a moment to look out of the window and smiles. He responds, "I see my nation at peace. My people are spending their time improving their lives instead of fighting for them." He looks down at the demon that is now standing beside him looking out the window. "What is it that you see, my child?" he questions.
After a short silence, Damien's smile fades and he answers, "Failure...." This surprises the elder demon and he notices the change in his officer's demeanor. "It was ten years ago when I started seeing our nation's downfall. Ten years ago to this very day." The anger in his voice becomes very apparent and Caius starts to step away from him. Awkwardly enough, another smile creeps across Damien's face as he turns to face his leader. "Do you fear me, Lord Detruire?"
