steve harrington pulled up to maxine mayfield and billy hargrove's house to drop off his little sister, he was nervous, but she was strong and he knew she wouldn't get into trouble. although maybe the same couldnt go for him. "have fun, be safe, don't drink underage"

"even though you probably will?" caroline asked, opening the car door with a chuckle

"get out of the damn car" steve laughs, playfully shoving his sister towards the sidewalk

caroline laughed and hopped out of the passenger seat

"bye, i love you"

"yeah yeah, i love you too"  steve said as his younger sister went to shut the car door

"wait!" he yelled to the girl

caroline stopped, opening the door again

"you're the coolest princess leia i've ever seen"

caroline smiled and looked down, steve always remembered to keep her spirit high and he always made her smile. "tell nancy i appreciate the costume and that i love it! i'll see you later tonight!"

steve nodded as caroline shut the door and turned on her heal, walking towards the front door to the, very different, set of siblings's home

"ok i'm gonna scare them"

"i'll stay here, i don't think princess leia is going to be as terrifying as michael myers"

"hey, at least you're pretty!" max whisper-yelled before jumping out in front of the group of boys walking past the bush where the two girls hid out

the four boys from their science class screamed before caroline moved out from the bushes and max removed her mask, earning an almost dramatic eye roll from the paladin of their party

caroline, who was unable to control her laughter, looked at max then back at the boys before yelling "holy shit, you should've seen the look on your faces!"

max giggled "and you! who screams like that you sound like a little girl" she says pointing to lucas with laughter

caroline looked to the back of the group to see the darker haired boy, mike wheeler, staring at her gold bracelet around her wrist

he looked up to catch her eyes and she shook her head before placing a fake smile upon her face and looking at max. what was up with him? nancy wouldn't have told him about her, would she?

both max and caroline turned around before caroline noticed the boys weren't following them "hey, you guys coming or not?"

"oh! i heard we should hit up loch nora! that's where the rich people live, right?" max quickly said with a chuckle, pulling her best friend by her side

lucas and dustin squealed before racing after max. caroline knew they had a large interest in the redhead, and she was glad. max always pushed everyone away, but she seemed to be wanting to let lucas and dustin in.

after a few houses, maxine had easily weaved herself into the conversations from dustin and lucas, and they squealed everytime she looked away or wasn't focused on them
