Imma need more than a hugZinna hummed the lyrics to the song quietly while she flat ironed her clients freshly done sew in. Humming music helped her get throughout the day since she usually started her days early at 6 in the morning and usually didn't finish hair until the wee hours of the morning. She usually finished her last head from 12 to 1 in the morning.
Right about now she needed a foot message because her feet was hurting. She been at work for 18 hours now and she only had an hour break. She stood barefooted on the marble flooring. She swung her hips side to side while combing her way through the already straightened hair.
She was soon knocked out of her straightening when she heard a knock at the door. She placed the flat iron down before informing her client she'll be right back. Walking to the door with her taser in her hand she looked through the door and noticed David standing outside.
She unlocked the door quickly ushering David in before he let to much cold air into the warm shop. She stepped to the side watching him unzip his black bubble jacket to showcase his grey Nike jacket underneath it. He showcased his wide smile that sometimes made him look like a Chester cat.
David opened his arms wide before pulling into a bone crushing hug. He looked down analyzing her outfit which consisted of a 'Melanin' black crew neck, thick black tights, and her foot bare of any shoes.
"How many more clients you have mamas?" David looked around the salon to see that it was empty and not a line of customers like she would have on busy nights, such as Fridays.
"Just one, i'm almost done with her tho." He nodded his head before going to her office which he always did until she was finished with all her clients.
Walking back to her client Zinna apologized for taking a while before getting back to her hair. She did the last of her Peruvian hair before styling her baby hairs. She looked at her clients hair to make sure that the lace was completely laid and also that her lace front looked like her scalp.
She took the gold and black cape of the woman before turning her towards the large vanity mirror that hung in her station.
"I love this girl. You always have me looking a like a new bitch every time. How much I owe you?" Zinna looked down at the tab for everything the woman got today.
"$45 for microblading, $50 for eyelash extensions, $85 for manicure and full set, $105 for sugaring of your whole body, and $165 for you hair. Which means you owe me $450 today." Zinna spoke as she was placing her supplies where they belong.
"Here's your $450 and a $100 tip for just being the boss bitch you are. I'm gonna be back next week for a manicure and full set." Zinna nodded while counting the money and scheduling the woman for an appointment the next week.
"Thanks for coming. Lemme walk you out." Zinna followed the woman out the door and watched as she got in her car and drove off. She locked the door before heading to her office where David was.
Walking into the office she noticed David behind her desk on his phone doing whatever he was doing. She walked up to him before sitting on his lap placing her feet on her desk. Being tired was an understatement.
She never thought that working in a salon that she would be making $3,000 to $5,000 a day. Making that type of money meant she was working non stop all day and took limited breaks. She could be on her feet all day and only take a break for an hour and repeat the process.
"Ya feet her ma?" David asked locking his phone and placing it faced up on the desk.
"Sure do. This 18 hour shift kicked my ass today. I only got 3 hours of sleep last night because my last client was here until 2:30." Zinna loved venting to David because it felt like he understood her.
"How much you made today mamas?" Zinna took the cash out of her fanny pack before sitting it on the desk on front of them. David was shocked because just looking at all the money on the desk it looked like she had made a few stacks just from tonight.
"$6,300 and that was because I was taking on more clients since Honey is down with the flu." She separated the money into three stacks. One stack was going into the safe in her office to pay for the bills and supplies for the shop, one stack was going into her savings account, and the last stack was pocket change for her.
"I'm hungry what's open right now?" Zinna asked placing the money into the safe and placing rubber bands over the rest of the money.
"This wing place on 5th street. I already ordered because I knew you was gonna be hungry." Zinna nodded before updating her booking website. She had to place clients names down that booked while they were here. So, not everybody was coming into the salon at the same time.
"How's the store doing?" Zinna looked up from the Mac Book in front of her.
"It's been good. More people coming into the store and a few celebrities want me to help style them." Zinna looked up at him smiling. She loved hearing how business was growing for him because she knew how much talent he had.
"Alright I'm ready to go eat and get a foot massage." Zinna sighed before placing her socks on and slipping on her black bow bailey uggs.
"Don't stop David." Zinna sighed feeling relief run through her right foot. This is what she needed and it made her feet feel a hundred percent better.
"It can't feel that good mamas." He laughed watching her facial expressions while he blessed her with his gift of having a way with his hands.
"Imagine being on your feet 18 hours a day for 5 days a week. My feet felt like they were 2 minutes from falling off. " Zinna picked up one of her buffalo wings before eating it.
It became a routine since their first date in Jamaica, that they would spend the night together after work. They talked about their day's and the drama that occurred in the beauty shop each day. Zinna hated it because she knew how messy girls were and seeing it first hand had her shaking her head at the foolishness.
"How long you're gonna be at work tomorrow?" David looked back up at Zinna causing her to think for a moment.
"Only for 5-6 hours. I have to style a weddings party hair, do their nails, and also do their make up. Bali would be there tomorrow to help me with everything. So, we shouldn't be there for that long." Zinna loved doing wedding parties because she loved seeing the brides vision come true.
"I thought you didn't work on every other Saturday." David said before picking up her left foot and started massaging it.
"I don't. This bride reserved her spot before the shop even opened and she paid me a $500 deposit. So, I really couldn't decline it. Why?"
"Nothing." He smirked before looking down at her feet once again.
