Weeks before the next Takeover at Manchester, there was a number 1 contender's match to face Tyler and Trent for the tag titles as Ringkampf members Marcel and Timothy took on Gallus members Mark and Wolfgang in a chaotic match which saw the Ringkampf members emerge victorious and have the opportunity to face their old rivals from PROGRESS.
Tonight was another Takeover pay-per-view for the NXT UK roster as they are performing at Manchester. Before the show started, the entire roster stood on the stage for a 10 bell salute for the victims who passed away in the suicide bombing at the Manchester Arena two years ago.
The match card for the show had four matches:
Moustache Mountain (Tyler Bate and Trent Seven) (c) vs. Ringkampf (Marcel Barthel and Timothy Thatcher) - tag team match for the NXT UK Tag Team Championship
Pete Dunne vs. Joe Coffey - Singles match
Toni Storm (c) vs. Jinny - Singles match for the NXT UK Women's Championship
WALTER (c) vs. William Tuazon - Singles match for the WWE UK Championship
In his locker room, Will was in his attire while warming up for his redemption match against the Austrian Anomaly. After doing some stretches, he sat down and stared off into space while he thought to himself.
Will: this is it, William. Your shot at redemption, don't let that loss from Chapter 74 repeat itself.
After he meditated, there was a knock on the door.
Will: who is it?
Toni: my love, it's me
Will stood up and opened the door to find his love in her attire with her belt over her shoulder.
Will: hey champ, my love
Toni: looks like your all focused for tonight
Will: for everyone out there they say it's just a championship match, but for me it's a shot at redemption
Toni: as a word of advice, my love. Use that loss at PROGRESS as a strength factor both physically and mentally.
Will: that's great advice coming from the champ herself
Toni giggled and blushed.
Will: and you're defending your title against an old rival
Toni: my rivalry with Jinny goes all the way back to PROGRESS up to the Mae Young Classic
Will: hopefully tonight will be the last chapter of your rivalry with her
Toni: our rivalry is never ending like Kevin Owens and Sami Zayn
Will: yeah, but if you see those two now; they're a team of best friends
Toni: so is Sasha Banks and Bayley
Will: well those two are legit best friends
Toni: Trent, Pete and Tyler?
Will: they're like brothers to me, but for Trent and Tyler; those two look like father and son
Toni: they do!
The two shared a laugh.
Toni: well I'm gonna go warm up, good luck tonight, babe
Will: you too, my love
Toni kissed Will lightly before leaving him.
Will closed the door and went back into focus mode as the show opened the first match which was the tag title match.
