Piper Mclean drummed her fingers on her desk impatiently, casting several glances towards the door. Still no sign of Jason. She turned back to Professor Binns, who was lecturing them about the history of the houses. This was regarded as one of the most interesting topics Binns has ever lectured them about, and Piper still found it boring. After all, she had ADHD and dyslexia.

"Miss Mclean, will you please pay attention for once?" Professor Binns suddenly boomed, abruptly pausing his lecture, which he almost never did. This earned Piper snickers from her fellow classmates, mainly from a group of blonde girls sitting at the back. Piper blushed furiously as she turned back to Professor Bins, determined to not draw any more attention.

The lesson went on as Piper found herself growing increasingly bored. She glanced at the empty seat next to her—it wasn't like her boyfriend to not show up for class. After ten minutes, Piper knew that something was wrong—and the feeling of dread that was forming at the pit of her stomach wasn't just because she was an overprotective girlfriend.

They couldn't take any chances, and the fact that Jason was praetor of Camp Jupiter  didn't matter anymore. This kidnapper took down Annabeth, who was the toughest, most badass friend Piper had ever had. Anyone who could beat the daughter child of Athena was not to be underestimated.

Piper raised her hand.

"Yes, Miss Mclean?" Binns growled in annoyance as he set down the textbook he was holding. "This better be good."

"Oh, I really don't think that will be necessary," she cooed, her voice laced with charmspeak. She had no idea if her powers worked on ghosts, but she had to try. "I need to go find my friend. May I be excused?"

For a moment, the professor was silent, his expression blank. And then he nodded dumbly. "Of course you may, Ms McLean."

Not even bothering to look back, Piper immediately dashed out of the classroom.

Hermione Granger set down her textbooks on the library benches, exhaling at the weight that had just been lifted off her shoulders. Outside, the high sunlit clouds drifted across the clear blue sky, and every student in Hogwarts was outside enjoying the weather.

Well, everyone except her. The young witch hadn't stopped thinking about what Ron had said early on. And, truth be told, she had had a strange hunch about who these American exchange students really were.

"Magical Creatures of Various Species, Vampires, Werewolves and other Cursed Humans, Fantastic Beasts and Where To Find Them..." she mumbled as she scanned the bookshelves one by one. "You've got to be in here somewhere." After a while, her eyes dropped on a thick volume titled 'Wizards and their Magical Brethren'.  Biting down on her lower lip (a nervous habit she had never quite gotten rid of), the young witch flipped through the contents page. There it was: Greek Gods and their children.

She gasped aloud, her heart fluttering in her chest. She had spent years--four, to be exact--looking for answers to what happened when she was eleven. And here it was right in front of her--a part of her life she thought she would never come across ever again.

She rushed out of the library in such a hurry that she had completely forgotten to borrow the book.
