On the Ledge

You looked down from the roof of the 18 story apartment complex. It was so tempting. Just one little inch and it would be all over. Many thoughts like these ran through your head. You had been sitting up there, your legs dangling off, for at least 20 minutes. You hoped Sam and Dean didn't see you leave. They would have never let you leave if they knew where you were.

Just as you thought that there was the sound if a 67 Impala pulling in the parking lot below.

Speak of the devil, you thought.

Sam, Dean, and Cas stepped out. You thought that maybe they had used Cas to track you. They all looked up but your expression didn't change. Dean looked worried, almost on the verge of tears. Sam looked sad, as if he had caused it. Cas was squinting, looking as confused as always.

"(Y/N), Don't do it! Please! We'll come get you. Hold on!" Dean ran inside but you weren't worried. You had locked and barricaded the door to the roof.

Sam lingered a second before running after Dean.

Cas just kept looking up at you. He disappeared and reappeared, sitting next to you on the ledge.

You jumped a little and grabbed the ledge. You were holding on so tightly your knuckles were white.

"You won't do it."

You scoffed. "What makes you think that?"

"You're holding on too much."

You sighed and let go, returning your hands to your lap. "I want to."

"No you don't."

"Why not? There's nothing left for me."

"You have Sam and Dean. And me."

"I can see you in heaven. And Sam and Dean are temporary. They'll probably leave me soon."

"Don't say that. They like having you around."

"How do you even know what I'm feeling?"

"When I messed up heaven, I told Dean that I wouldn't go back because if I saw what I did I would kill myself. He told me not to. He cares for us. He likes you more than me so if he didn't want me to kill myself, then he really won't want you to do the same."

Cas reached out and took one of your hands. You looked up at him. He had a look of empathy and there was concern in his voice. "Please. Don't do it."

His fingers reached down to your wrists. There were cuts on them but not too much where it was obvious. You had passed them off as scratches from a hunt to Sam and Dean. You could tell Cas really knew.

"Stop this. All of it. Come back. You've been different lately. I want the old (Y/N) back."

You sighed in defeat. You couldn't argue with Cas.

"Plus," Cas took his hands off you and looked down, almost seeming embarrassed,"I wouldn't be able to live with myself if you did jump and I didn't do anything about it."

That shocked you. The great angel, Castiel, couldn't live without you?

"Cas... I," you didn't know what to say.

You didn't have time to say anything as the door burst open. Dean kicked the door open and Sam ran towards you.

"Don't do it!"

You stood up and hugged Sam tightly. "I'm not."

Sam was taken aback by the hug but he hugged back.

You let go of Sam and tackled Dean. Dean was expecting it and hugged you tighter than he had ever hugged you.

"I'm not going anywhere." You looked at Dean and saw him smiling. He had a triumphant gleam in his eyes. He put his arm around you and wouldn't let you go.

Sam turned to Cas. "What did you tell her?" Cas stood and opened his mouth.

You cut him off before he could say anything. "It doesn't matter. I didn't jump. That's what matters."

Dean nodded. "That is all that matters. Now let's all go out for some burgers and pie."

You all went back to the Impala, smiling, Dean not taking his arm off you the entire way.
