Trigger warning! Heads up guys!

Are you, are you
Coming to the tree
Where they strung up a man they say murdered three.
Strange things did happen here
No stranger would it be
If we met up at midnight in the hanging tree.

You used to sing to Cas all the time. You loved to sing The Hanging Tree. You never told him where you got it from, even you weren't sure where you picked it up. But you would catch yourself humming it all the time.

Cas walked through a field, slowly, solemnly. Your melodious voice filled his head. The moon was high and bright. His watch said 11:52 a.m.

Are you, are you
Coming to the tree
Where the dead man called out for his love to flee.
Strange thing did happen here
No stranger would it be
If we met up a midnight in the hanging tree.

It had been hard when Sam died. On all of you. It took its toll on Dean the most. After he saw his brother get mutilated by a werewolf, he was never the same. Sam never came back either.

Dean slowly slipped away. He started taking sleeping pills to get through the night without having a nightmare. During the day, all he did was drink. He never spoke about it, no matter how hard you pleaded and told him it would make him feel better. One night, he took one too many pills. You shook him and called his name over and over again. Nothing.

You spend most of your days crying and in Cas's arms. He was the only one you had left. But it didn't last long. You left a note for Cas on the table when you slipped out that night. The note gave him a hint to where you would be. Nothing more, nothing less.

Are you, are you
Coming to the tree
Where I told you to run, so we'd both be free.
Strange things did happen here
No stranger would it be
If we met up at midnight in the hanging tree.

Cas approached the spot you alluded to in your note. He was right. The gnarled, old tree looked spooky in the moonlight. It cast shadows that seemed to dance and the wind blowing through it called his name.

There you were. Hanging limp from the lowest bough. Below you was a chair that was laying on its side. You looked slightly peaceful, apart from hanging from a tree. Cas look a deep breath as he looked at his watch again. 11:58.

Are you, are you
Coming to the tree
Wear a necklace of rope, side by side with me.
Strange things did happen here
No stranger would it be
If we met up at midnight in the hanging tree.

Cas picked up the chair and put it next to you. He stood on it and reached over. He kissed you on the forehead one last time. He quickly tied his rope around the branch and made a loop. Slowly, he slipped it around his neck and tightened it.

He looked down at his watch. 12:00. Cas looked back up at you. He wanted you to be the last thing he saw. Then he kicked the chair over.

Are you, are you
Coming to the tree
Where they strung up a man they say murdered three.

I'm sorry not sorry for writing this. When I listened to the song again I felt the need to write this as it came to me so this was the final product of that inspiration. I hope I got my point across with this. Not really a point, but more of the idea. I'm hoping you all caught what I was trying to say and I hope you liked it! Comment and tell me what you thought!
