This was pathetic.
His king has spent far to long waiting for the perfect queen. Hecould have had her the hast time, but had deemed her too young. Soshe was just a child, she would have grown. And the demons wouldnthave had to deal with a brooding king all these years.
The time has come for a new king to take the throne. And he knew justthe right demon to take his place.
The fool had no idea that a close confidant was going to over throwhim.

Jamie was terrified as she ran back to the pack house. She had noidea what she would stumble upon. Had the demon king come to claimher already? Had he decided to kill her entire pack so that she hadno choice but to leave with him? If that was the case then there wasno way that she was going to go anywhere with him or his demons. Shecould feel Connor close behind her, and should have been annoyed, butwas far to focused on her pack to care that he was so close to her,so close in fact that she swore she could feel the heat radiating offof him.
She burst through the tree line surrounding the house, closelyfollowed by Connor, to find a most disturbing scene. Two wloves werefighting tooth and nail with what looked like a very large man. Sheknew who the wolves were, the two brothers were well know within thepack as the most over protective brothers ever to have been born. Thefierce enforcers were trying to stop the large man from gettingcloser to their younger sister.
For a moment Jamie had no idea why this man would be trying to get tothe young woman, until he snarled, "You'll not keep me fromher!"
It struck her as odd that the brothers were not only trying to stopthe man getting to their sister, but also trying to stop their sistergetting past them.
She went to move closer to them to help resolve the situation but washeld back by Connor.
"Don't," he said. And all she wanted to do was shack his arm offof her. "He's no mere man. Cant you smell it? The burnt ash scent?"
for a second she had no idea what he was talking about as she lookedat him, far to annoyed that he thought that he could touch her. Butthen his words sunk in and she took a deep breath. Now she couldsmell it, it was not an unpleasant scent, in fact she quite liked it.Found herself comparing it to something but having no idea what itwas she was comparing it to.
She shook off his hand and moved closer to the brawling group. "Idont care. If they dont stop it now something terrible will happen."
She was surprised that no one else was here as the scream was so loadshe was sure other packs had heard it. However as she got closer tothem a sudden calm authority took over her. She knew that she had todo something quickly other wise all hell would inevitably breakloose. "Devon, Cray, what is going on here?" her tone was soforeign to her that she was shocked for a fraction of a second.
The wolves looked at her briefly then quickly back towards the man ashe made an attempt to get past them. It was their sister who spoke,"Jamie, help me please they are being dumb headed!"
Jamie looked at the young woman with a frown, not sure if she knewher well enough for her to call her by her name, but decided seen asshe was only an omega and not an alpha she has no right to correctthe girl. "Silvia why are they being dumb headed?" she neededanswers and she was damn well going to get them.
Silvia looked at her, the rushed over and hugged her so tightly thatshe was sure if she were human she would have snapped. "He justturned up in a puff of smoke, sort of, I dont know where from though. But I was so shocked that I yelped. Them these two fools rushed overand tried to rip him apart, before I could even explain." the girlsobbed.
"Then explain it now." Jamie was getting annoyed now, whichstruck her as odd as she had always been quite calm. She put it downto having her ex mate standing so close to her when all she wantedwas for him to be as far away from her as possible.
"I... I..." Silvia took a deep breath and the blurted out. "ITHINK HE'S MY MATE!"
Jamie stood there in shock for a second just looking at her as shetook several deep breaths. Her brothers had also stopped what theywere doing to gap at her, which was a strange thing to behold as theywere both still in wolf form. The man however looked so very happy ashe looked at her with unveiled love in his eyes.
Jamie rubbed her temples, "I think we all need to go inside andhave a chat. Do you two think you can handle that or do I need to geta few guards to restrain you?"
In answer the two wolves bowed low and Jamie took that as a yes.
A hand touched her shoulder, "Do you need me to help at all?" Shehad hoped that he would have left, but even now she knew that he feltas if he was somehow still connected to her. A point she wished thatshe could tell him otherwise, however they were with others who wouldonly run and tell her father the news, and he was bound to start awar.
"This is pack business not yours, Alpha Connor."
With that said she turned and strode to the siblings house at theedge of the small clearing they were in.

Connor stood there in shock.
He knew that he had no right to worry about her any more, but he justcouldnt seem to help it. He didnt know if it was due to his wolfsattachment to her or his need to know that she was safe, butsomething was driving him to want to make sure that she was safe andhappy.
A thought suddenly occurred to him. What if the rejection wasntcomplete? What if he had said the wrong thing? What if you couldnever truly reject your mate? What if it didnt happen because hedidnt really want to do it?
It was possible that was the case. And he now knew that she had astrength in her that was hard to deny. The way that she took controlof the whole situation was very impressive for an omega. He has toadmit that he was highly attracted to her when her voice took on atone of authority.
He had wanted her the moment that he had laid eyes on her but hewanted her even more now. The force of which was so strong that hefelt himself following her even though she had said that he wasntneeded.
His need to be close to her was both annoying and calming at the sametime.
He didnt know what to make of the whole demon queen thing but he wasdetermined to find out about it, and find some way to stop it.
He might not be her mate any more but he'll be damned if he let somevile demon drag her off to some hell dimension to live as his queen.
He was about to enter the house behind her and the others when hisbest friend called out to him.
"Connor!" Greg had been his best friend for as long as he couldremember. He couldnt tell you how their friendship started but hewouldn't let anyone talk badly about him. He wasn't a wolf, but hewas part of their pack.
Greg's mother married into the lupine pack when he was a baby. Thismeant that although his mother was now a wolf he wasn't. Even thoughhe was just human he was still a very strong guy, could even hold hisown against Connor himself.
