"Snips? Hey Snips? Ya' good kid?" A voice rang in her ears as she slowly opened her eyes from another shutdown. She sat up and held her pounding head. Her body felt like she had a ton of bricks dropped on her as what was left of her muscles stretched as she moved. "What did you do to her?!" Able's voice rang in her ear as everything finally came to their normal pace.
"I didn't do anything, she collapsed Captain Douchebag. Now, give her some room to breath." Fade helped her sit up, his hand on her back. His hand felt rough, almost like mechanic's, but they were soothing like an older sibling comforting their sibling.
Kristin never had a brother or sister because of her health issues. She was born 3 months earlier than her due date and suffered health issues. When she was three she had a stroke caused by a clot that traveled from the left side of her brain to her right causing her to go blind in her left eye. That was the only thing that she missed from childhood, a family.
"I-I'm fine, Able." The building shook slightly as she whispered. "Here lets get you to an interior room." Fade helped her up and started walking her down the hall to another room. Able followed closely glaring at Fade as he helped her.
They knocked on the door and the same boy from earlier opened the door. "Um, Yes?" He asked looking around. "We need your help she's hurt and we can't get into any other rooms." Fade tried to act like he didn't just yell at the boy the first time. The boy looked back into his room at something, he seemed to be hiding something. Kristin raised her head to look in and saw a familiar face she knew well, "Lux?" She whispered.
The boy shuttered as the brown haired Lux walked into the door frame. "Kris? Ryan let them in they won't rat us out." Lux helped Kris in to the room and laid her on the bed. Lux placed a pillow behind her back as she smiled, "It's good to see you, Lux. Your plan worked for getting out of that horrific place." She reached her hands around Lux's neck and hugged him.
"You two know each other?" Able asked hurt as he witnessed their embrace with a grim expression on his face. Kristin explained that when she was forced to walk the camps, she helped Lux with his newly upgraded legs and they would sneak and meet at the fences: planning their escape.
"So you two are close?" Ryan looked down, he looked saddened by his statement. Lux tilted his head to the side as he told him that they were friends that helped each other escape. Ryan nodded as Kris went to stand. She shook her head and looked at the group of men standing around her. She shook her head and looked at the group of men standing around her. Draping her legs over the bed; her body littered with scars that ran across the main joints of her body. The tailcoat rested around her as she felt the bandages around her shoulder where Fade had helped her. "Look," she started as she addressed the group, "We all look like we have a common enemy, Malcom. We are a bunch of teenagers who want to make this world the way it was. Please, let's join forces and kill those bastards who took everything from us!" she stood slowly and put her hand out for the men around her to join her.
Able took the first step and put his hand on top of her's, "I'm in. We need to stop the hell that our fathers started." he smiled as he looked around the room to the others who were debating whether to join this group of teenagers who were about to break every rule in the books. "This wasteland is my home, rust and all. I'm going to get it back." Fade stepped forward and put his hand on top of the others. Kristin mouthed, "Thank you." to him as she waited for the rest to make their choice.
Ryan was next to join, he put his hand on top of the rest and held out his other for Lux to take it. The four of them stared at Lux as he rolled his green eyes, "I guess I've got no better choice? Hell why not?" he shrugged and put his hand on top of the whole group. The five of them smiled as they looked around at the odd bunch of people in the room. "Well aren't we just a rainbow of people? I like it!" Ryan laughed as they moved away and sat on the bed.
