As Fade fixed the straps around his waist and legs he thought how he'd carry Kristin and he came up with an idea, "Here I'll strap you in around my waist and hold onto your shoulders with my arm." Fade turned to Kris and grabbed her by the waist.
His sudden action made Kris yelp in surprise as he tied a strap around her waist against his so she was facing him.
"Finn, I don't know about this..."

"Oh come on, Snips! Let's go!"

"No, like I'm ok with just standing here."

        "One!"

        "No no. No!"

         "Two!"

          "Fade! No!"

         "Three! Here we go!"

          "Fade I don't like this!"

Fade ignored Kris's pleas to stop as he ran off the edge of the cliff side. The glider fell quickly to the ground.
The wind stung their faces as Kris dug her face into Fade's chest as he smirked. In one movement, Fade had pulled the glider straight up and caught a draft to sore along the sky in the sunrise.
"Oi, Snips open your eyes." Fade smiled as he looked down at her tightly locked eyes. Her slender arms clinging to his chest made him smile.
"Oh hell no! You are insane!" She screamed and held on to him tighter. Fade laughed as he touched her cheek with his thump. He told her that if she opened her eyes she wouldn't regret it.
"I may be insane, but I'm not going to drop you. I promise."

         "But..."

"Kristin please, trust me." Fade watched her turn her face and open her eyes. Her pupils dilated as she took in the beautiful scene before her. The winds kissed her face, leaving her cheeks tinted pink from their mark. The orange and purple lights were starting to wake up the wildlife who live in the forest. Birds flew next to the glider, stretching their wings from a long night's sleep.
Down below, the river was welcoming those looking for breakfast before the spring heat kicked in and the fish move up stream. Bears and coyotes shared the river for a drink and to catch a snake before they would turn and continue their day.
"It's beautiful, Finn. How did you know this thing would work?"

        "I didn't. I guessed and figured I'd give it a try."

"You didn't know that this was going to work!?"

      "Yep!"

"You literally are insane!" Kris shook her head as she noticed the faint scars along Fades cheek and eyebrow. One ran from just above his right eye to a point just above his eyebrow, and another rested along his jawline from his ear to his chin. She noticed a mole under his left eye that sat just at the end of his almond eye. The brown color of his eyes reflected the freedom he held as they flew.
      "Wanna dip lower, Snips?"

"What does that mean?" She asked as Fade did just that. He dipped down towards the river by closing the wings of the glider. As they free fell, to what Kris thought would be their watery grave, Fade let out a crazed yell into the air. He looked excited. He looked happy. He looked finally free. He looked like this was his true self.
As they fell close to the river, Fade pulled the wings to catch a gust to bank upwards into the air. They turned to the left and suddenly there was a loud, "BANG!" And the glider jolted to the side.
"Damn it! Fucking Tin-Heads found us." Fade swore as he tried to steady the glider as it started to plummet to the ground.
In his struggle the hand that rested around Kristin had slid back and bumped the sensitive clasp holding her to his body, "Finn!" Kris screamed as she slid from her former spot, in his arms.
"Shit! Kris, hold on! I've got you!" He tried to hold her and steady the glider. With his forearm burning he hulled her up so he could take his hand and grab closer to her shoulder, but the universe wasn't about to let that happen.
Another "BANG!" Rang out and the bullet met it's mark, Fade's shoulder. "Fuck me!" Fade hissed as he felt the shoulder drop. He winced as the weight of Kristin's mink body dangled from his wrist.
      "Finn, let me go!"

"What!? Are you insane!? I'm not going to drop you!"

"I'm to heavy! Your shoulder won't be able to take it any longer! Do it!" Kristin called as she let go of his arm and slid to his wrist. Not going to let her go, Fade clenched onto her wrist holding her tight enough to bruise her arm.
Blood from his shoulder ran down their arms, streaming down like a river of blood into Kristin's purple shirt. The presence of fear within her eyes made Fade's heart hurt worse than his shoulder.
      "I won't  dropping you! I can't!"

"I'll be ok! You'll find me again." She smiled as her hand started to slip past his fingers.
Now, Fade had her by her hand and he was crying. Not because of the pain in his arm, but the pain of possibility loosing Kristin before he could tell her how he felt. Yet what his tear filled eyes couldn't see was Kristin was also crying. She wanted to spend more time with Fade and now that things had to end the way they are it hurt her heart also.
"Thanks for the memories, Finnigan Lockwood." She whispered as she let her hand break free from Fade's had.
"No, wait... please...." Fade tried to catch her with his hand but she was too far gone. As she fell she smiled up at him before closing her eyes and disappearing into the canopy of trees.
Fade's tears now fell freely as another shot was was fired and hit him in the leg forcing the controls to completely loose control and he was now starting to crash into the forest.
The glider broke the canopy and crashed into branches cutting his face and arms. The straps held Fade to the glider as it lodged itself into a tree a few feet from the ground.
Fuck it, if I'm going to bleed out than so be it. Fade thought as pain hit him and his body shut down, forcing him into darkness...
