The two were confused, seeing that they traveled back to their father's office in the Baudelaire mansion. They stood in front of large windows in a small room in their library, filled with a book for nearly every subject. It was grey and cloudy, much like the type of days they would go to Briny Beach to test a few of Violet's inventions. They look at each other, seeing that they were 14 and 12 years old again.

"We're young," Klaus told his sister in a bit of shock to hear his young voice again. He wiped off his glasses to be sure he was seeing clearly.

"When we traveled back, we must have entered our bodies in this time," Violet assumed, removing her ribbon from her hair and placing the time machine in her bag.

"Your invention worked too well,"

"At least we know it works. Now we just have to go forward a few months," Before the two could say anything they heard the door open. The man who enters the office was someone who they never see again.

"Father?" Violet asked, getting his attention. Bertrand, their father, smiled while the children walked to him.

"Mother?' Klaus said after a beautiful woman, Beatrice, came in through the door behind her husband.

"Violet, Klaus." Their father greeted while hugging each of his children.

"You should be on the trolley to Briny Beach by now. It will be arriving soon" Their mother said to them, a bit confused.

"Right," Violet replied, trying to hold back her tears of happiness. "We're on our way,"

Both gave their parents one long, last embrace before leaving the library. They closed the door behind them and made their way to the sitting room.

"This is the day," Violet realized. "This is the day the fire happened."

"We have to get them out!" Klaus instantly said, running back down the hall to the library. He didn't get very far.

"We can't just tell them," His sister said, pulling the boy back.

"Why not? You changed the past."

"That was from that morning. If we tell them about the fire, think about how big of a change that'll be. If they survive, we won't meet the Quagmires,"

"So you're saying we should just let them die?" He asked in anger. "To just let the events happen to us!"

"I'm afraid so," She sadly replied.

Klaus couldn't understand what he heard. He didn't want to go to Briny Beach to test Violet's latest invention. He didn't want to hear Mr. Poe the banker tell the Baudelaire children their parents perish in a terrible fire that destroyed their entire home. He didn't want to lose his parents again.

Violet frowned at the sight of her little brother's upset and gloomy face. They looked back at the door that led to their father's office that would soon be destroyed, seeing their parents leave it. She turned back to Klaus, seeing tears in his eyes behind his glasses.

"I know we agreed on changing the past," She said in a soothing voice. "But we agreed on doing it for the triplets so we could be with them. If our parents survive, we won't meet them at Prufrock, even if it's such an austere academy."

Her brother wiped away his tears and asked, "What do you propose we do?"

"As I said before, we just have to go forward a few months,"

The 14-year-old led him to a door that led to the sitting room. She took out the time machine from her bag and adjusted the course. The two prepared themselves, having both hands on the levers once again. Before they could leave, Violet noticed a strong smell. She looked at the door, seeing it turn red. She quickly back away, pulling Klaus with her, right when the door and the room soon engulfed in flames.
