That's not how criticism works. At all. I don't have to write in order to criticize. I will say this in a variety of ways.
Siskel, Ebert and Roeper were professional movie critics for decades. I guess since they never directed anything, their influential reviews and critiques should have been ignored. Likewise, nobody should be able to review a book of a published author unless they themselves are also published authors. See how silly that argument sounds with other examples?
I have posted a good amount of fics on sites like this (under a different moniker) and they have been quite successful. Frequenting these sites as much as I do, I also know the hostility and tit-for-tat attitude that comes with being critiqued in a negative way. People simply can't take it, so they lash out and try to get back at the reviewer any way possible. I have simply removed an outlet for them to focus that retaliatory rage on.
