We both broke away from each other quickly and jumped apart, looking for the person attached to the voice.
Michael the guitarist rounded a corner of the building, scanning the area, most likely for Luke.
"Ay mikey!" Luke called, his face anxious.
I shot luke a "what the fuck do you think your doing? He'll know!" look, but he just frowned and shook his head.
"Hey Luke, Casey is upstairs, looking for you, and I just wanted to warn you so you could get far away from here, as soon as humanly possible," Michael said, emerging from the darkness, and coming under the lamp.
Michael did a double take when he saw me, which was a good thing, because that means he didn't see us kissing.
I mentally cringed and threw a little wave at Michael.
"Oh, hey Kate, how are you?" Michael said, awkwardly.
"Nauseous," I grinned sarcastically at him, and he nodded, understanding. It wasn't exactly a lie. I felt sick at the thought of the fact that I just kissed one of my co-workers on the first day, especially someone I'd be sharing a sleeping space with.
God, I'm stupid.
"So Luke, are we gonna get out of here or what?" Michael asked, his eyes darting towards the door I had come through not too long ago.
But before Luke could respond to Michael an angry female voice came yelling from the hallway.
My eyes widened and I saw Luke panicking.
"Oh my god, holy shit man, why is she so angry?" Luke asked, stumbling away from the incoming storm.
"Maybe because you broke up with her? Luke she's gonna rip you apart man, we need to go," Michael said, pulling on Luke's sleeve.
But Luke just stared blankly at the door, as if waiting for a tornado to touch down on his property.
I couldn't take this any longer.
"Listen," I said, walking over to Luke, and setting my hands on either side of his shoulder, "I'll hold her off, and you run."
His gaze moved from the door to my eyes, looking at me with a confused look.
"Hold her off?" Michael asked from behind Luke.
I nodded.
"Yeah I don't know, I'll tell her that I have a claim on him or something. Or maybe tell her that he went to the roof," I chuckled at my own dumb plan, but I locked eyes with Luke to try and convey to him that he needed to leave.
It was completely obvious that whoever this girl was, she was someone that Luke didn't want to see, or was completely terrified of. And when faced with her he completely freezes, I know how that feels, and I wouldn't want him to get hurt because of this girl. Even though I barely knew him, it didn't mean that I wouldn't help when I could.
"Go," I whispered to Luke, placing my lips gently to his cheek.
His eyes had moved back to the damning door, but when my lips touched his cheek his eyes snapped back to me and he nodded slowly.
Michael's face was very confused but he didn't waste any time pulling Luke quickly into the haze of buses.
The voice was probably connected to an idiot, because it took her far too long to find the actual door.
But when the girl, (Casey? I think) finally shoved the doors open I was there waiting.
She locked eyes with me, and I could see the anger and rage that filled them.
I sighed heavily and began spewing lies.
