It has been two months since Jordan's incident at the Target store. It has also been two months since she met Riley and her life started turning around. She was not stressed as much as she usually was. She was finally in a position to feed her sisters without limitation. She was able to provide for them, for the first time in her life. She was grateful, not only to God for saving her from being arrested, but for also meeting Riley who was nothing more than understanding towards her. She usually hates getting close to people. She hates the looks of sympathy and the looks she was so used to getting. So in order to protect herself, she took a lesson from her mother. From an early age she could understand everything that was wrong in her home. She took it in and kept it to herself. When she saw her mother get pregnant and the father's walk out. She swore to hers tgat she would never let anything like that happen to her. She knew that big she wanted to protect herself, she couldn't get close to anyone. That's the lesson she took, her mother was the example she used to teach herself that people will stick around you when it is convenient. Once you are not of any benefit to them, they will leave. Every man that said they loved her mother, eventually walked out. She used that as a mantra in her head and daily she reminded herself that she wasn't going to experience the kind of hurt she was meant to witness her mother go through. She wanted out of that life. She wanted more. She wanted better, she wanted to be a human being with responsibilities that suited her age. She snapped out her thoughts when she heard the beep on her phone.
Riley : Jordan 😣
Jordan : Hey what's up
Riley : I failed my math test 😣😣
Jordan : That's not possible !
Riley : You said you were going to help me ! Nothing changed. I failed.
Jordan : I'm sorry. I knew I shouldn't have agreed to tutor you. You go to an elite school and and maybe you needed someone from there to tutor you instead.
Riley : lmao just kidding I actually got an A. Hahaha my first A ever.
Jordan : You play too much gurrrl.
Riley : Atleast you're my first...
Jordan : I'm honoured 😏
Riley : We should celebrate. Are you going to basketball camp?
Jordan : yes I am we leave on Monday.
Riley : Ok cheer camp and basketball camp is going to be in the same place this year. We can celebrate then ?
Jordan : lol I don't think they'd mix elite school and public district schools together for this. So we won't be in the same place.
Riley : lol for a smart person you really can be an ignorant pig. It's the same place . I checked. Each prep school hosts a public district this year. Lol their new policy to encourage socialism.
Jordan : are you playing again ?
Riley : nope. I'm on the student council that's how I know. We're hosting your school for the week. At least I'll be to be social since I know you.
Jordan : Don't talk to me when you see me, I don't need people knowing I know a spoiled prep school brat 😆
Riley : lmao I was just about to ask if you wanted to ride with me instead of the bus.
Jordan put her phone , wondering how was this even possible. For the first time in schools history the prep school wanted to be social, and right around the same time she k re someone who went to that school. She didn't want to over think it, instead she started packing everything her little sisters would need for the week. She had arranged for the girls to stay next door for the week. With Jordan keeping down her tutoring job she was able to afford to pay the lady next door to be the girls nanny. It wasn't an easy task at first, but with a little bit of her good girl charm she was able to convince the lady next door to watch them for a fee.
She made sure everything was clean and tiny, and everything the girls could possibly need for the week was pack. She didn't want to kiss anything, because she didn't want the girls to need to come home for anything if she wasn't here. Jordan was being the best mom and sister she knew how to be. It was no easy task, especially because the girls were always so attached to their mother. Yet with each passing day, her mother became more intoxicated and little less human. She barely looked at her kids. She didn't know whether they were there or not, whether they were alive or not, she didn't bother about whether they were2fed or not. Despite these trying circumstance and the ever growing bills she needed to pay, Jordan still found the will and means to save up. She was saving for an apartment so she could finally take the kids to safety and give them the comfort any child deserves.
Two hours had gone by and she was finally done. She set the girls bags aside and starred to make sure all her gear was packed and ready for camp. It was just highschool, that was meant to improve everyone's skills. It was the camo of the year that only a few school are selected for. Despite of wealth and station in which school where labeled under, they were still picked according to performance. This was the camo that was either going to make or break Jordan. She had lost hope with getting an academic scholarship because no offered were made yet, but despite that she was still determined to make a play for the sporting scholarship. This was going to be one of the hardest weeks of her life. There would be scoutsfrom across the country looking for the best big superstar. She really wanted to make a good impression. Although she had already face some of her hardest days, she knew this would be up there would the best of them. She marked this week as going be one of her top five most thrilling yet difficult experienced of her life.
