Okie I'm very new at this writing thing so, I'm not sure how well this is going to turn out. If you have and questions don't be afraid to ask, I would love feedback for future writing. Thank you to who is actually reading this. I feel like I am talking to myself right now lol.
In room 2026 of Everett High School, a class full of bored, unamused 17 year olds sat waiting for their teacher to hand back their exams. The teacher had brown, wavy hair that just reached her shoulders. She had a small amount of makeup on, some jet black mascara and some hot pink lipstick that clashed with her bright blue blazer. She wore a white shirt underneath and black pants. Her black heels clacked against the tiled floor of the classroom. She handed the last exam to a young girl with red hair. Her straight, red hair was just passed her shoulders and curled inward at the ends. She was wearing lightly colored skinny jeans and a white t-shirt with an orange tiger in the right corner. Her makeup was natural, her mascara matched her hair and her eyeshadow was earthy colors. Her eyes were a piercing blue-green and her eyeliner matched her eyebrows, an auburn color. Her lips were painted light pink with a lip gloss shine. She looked through her exam and smiled with pride. She had passed her exam with an A. The boy sitting next to her nudged her arm and said "What did you get."
She turned to him. He was wearing a white Thrasher t-shirt and grey sweatpants. He wore black socks and black Nike slides. His fluffy hair was a shiny chocolate brown. It flipped up and towards the back, and the sides were short. It was the typical modern guy's hairstyle. He was showing his bright white teeth. She answered, "It's none of your beeswax, Mr. Football. But I got an A."
He laughed and said, "Dang girl, pretty and smart? I gotta get a piece of that."
She rolled her eyes,"In your dreams Danny."
"You say that now. But one of these days I'll convince you to go out with me, Charlie." He gave her a wink and smirked.
She laughed. "Never gonna happen. I'd accidentally kill myself falling off your ego and down to your IQ."
He frowned and said, "That hurt." She just laughed.
"Come on, how about we have a summer fling?" He flashed another smile.
She slid her exam in her folder and said, "Nope." She popped the 'P.' "I'm leaving for England, right about." She glanced and the clock above the door and the classroom phone rang. "Now." The teacher answered the phone and replied with a yes ma'am. Charlie glanced at her English teacher, Mrs. Bower.
"Miss Sawyer, your ride is here. Have a good summer and keep up the good work." Mrs. Bower told her. Charlie grabbed her navy blue backpack, swung it over her right shoulder, and smiled.
"Thank you, Mrs. Bower. Have a good summer as well." After Mrs. Bower had returned to reading emails, Charlie turned to Danny bent down to his ear and placed her hand on his desk and he could see well down her shirt. "So now if you'll excuse me, I'm off to have more fun than I would with you." She walked to the classroom door with a little more swing to her hips. She could hear Danny laughing as she shoved the door open. She stepped into the school hallway that reeked the smell of people. She stepped to the side and leaned against the wall, with her left checkered Vans shoe against the wall. She took out her phone. She opened iMessage and clicked on the group chat called 'the herd.' She texted, 'hey guys, im leaving' to her best friends Caleb and Nicole. Then she opened Snapchat and sent a picture of her with her tongue out to the side. The picture read 'Finally leaving!' She sent that to her story. She pushed off the wall and walked down the hall and took a left to where the bathroom was located. She walked passed the bathroom and the smell of skunk and smoke coated her lungs. She scoffed. Her phone lit up with a notification from her friends. Caleb said 'send pics' and Nic said 'aww imma miss you.' Charlie smiled and responded with 'okie i will, imma miss you losers.' She waddled down the stairs and headed for the front office. She opened the door and signed out on the yellow paper attached to a clipboard. She opened the next door to where her mother was waiting for her. Her mother had dirty blonde hair down to her shoulders. She wore an army green t-shirt and black leggings with white Sperry shoes.
"You ready?" Her mother asked.
Charlie responded. "Of course I am. I am so ready to leave this miserable, disgusting place." Her mother laughed. They walked out the last door and towards their car, a Pacific Blue Chevy Equinox. Charlie hopped in the backseat next to her nine year old brother Will. Will had dirty blonde hair like his mother, but with darker roots. He wore a green t-shirt with a dark green Tyrannosaurus Rex that wrapped around the shirt. His tan Sperry shoes complimented his tan cargo pants. Charlie's father was in the driver's seat and her mother got in the passenger's seat. Charlie's father had short, dark auburn hair that sat on his head. He was wearing a teal collared shirt and dark jeans. His leather shoes were at the car's pedals.
Charlie's father looked back at her and her brother to say, "The bags are in the back and the passports and tickets are in mom's purse. Are we ready to go?"
"Heck yeah!" Charlie said, simultaneously with her brother that had said "Yes!"
"Alright, let's go!" Their father said. He pulled out of the parking spot and took off.
After about an hour of sitting in the car, they pulled into the parking lot of Tacoma Narrows Airport. Charlie jumped out, along with the rest of her family, and grabbed her duffel bag out of the trunk. Will could barely carry his bag, so she offered to carry it for him. Charlie walked into the airport alongside her parents and younger brother. Together they walked through the airport, going through security and bag checks. They finally made it to gate 42 in terminal C. They handed the woman at the stand their tickets and she responded, "Have a nice flight." They all settled into their seats. Charlie sat in the window seat next to her mother. Charlie's father handed out a piece of orange trident gum.
"Please fasten your seatbelts, we are about to take off. Thank you." The intercom read over them. The clicks of seatbelts was heard from all of the plane. Charlie knew this is going to be a long flight. She turned the airplane mode on and placed her earbuds in. She hit shuffle play on her playlist called 'lovely' and 'idontwannbeyouanymore by Billie Eilish' played. Charlie watched the plane fly up into the clouds. She was going to be on the plane for over nine hours, she might as well take a nap. Charlie closed her eyes listening to 'come out and play' by Billie Eilish. The turbulence disturbed her relaxation and she shot her eyes open.
The turbulence finally came to an end and she let go of her tension. She closed her eyes again and listened to Billie Eilish sing 'bellyache.'
Charlie had woken up almost three hours later. She knew she would not be going back to sleep. She took out her earbuds and got out her portable charger and plugged in her phone. She took off her seatbelt and stood up to stretch. She looked over to her mother, who was sleeping, she looked to her father who was sleeping as well, then she looked to Will, who was sleeping and also catching flies. She giggled quietly and scooted passed the other seats. She walked towards the extremely small restroom on the plane. It had not been occupied so she stepped in and turned the knob to lock it. She looked in the mirror and sighed. It felt like she had been on this cramped plane for forever. She splashed her face with cold water to keep her awake. After she had finished using the restroom, she walked back to her seat and slid past the seats to sit down. She got out her book, 'The Hobbit' by J. R. R. Tolkien and began reading the part where Bilbo Baggins, the dwarves, and Gandalf had made it to the valley, where the elves sang in the trees. Charlie read and read until her stomach twisted and turned. It grumbled like a bear. Her mother and father had woken up and suggested they eat the club sandwiches they had brought. Once Charlie and her parents opened the sandwitches, Will had woken up. The Sawyer family had eaten up their sandwiches and cleaned up. Will went back to watching a movie on the portable DVD player he had brought. Her mother decided to take another nap and so did her father. Charlie began reading her book again. She read and read until she finally reached the end. She closed the book and again, sighed. Charlie thought the flight had to be almost over by now. She looked to her mother to ask, but she had fallen asleep. She looked to her father and tapped his shoulder. "When will we land?"
He turned to her, "Let's see." He checked the time. "We left at one-thirty, and it's almost eight back home. So we have about two hours left." She groaned and turned back into her seat. What was she to do now? She thought. She put her earbuds back in and clicked shuffle play again. 'Bury a Friend' by Billie Eilish began to play. She looked out the window and saw complete darkness. She began lip syncing to the song. She laid her head back to try and fall asleep again. Her eyes fluttered shut, and she fell asleep yet again.
