Zuko's POV:
Finally, after all this time, I could finally say that I have regained my honor. I had helped the avatar, I had made my uncle proud. I could now make a difference in the world, just like mother would have wanted. Everything was right. I was with Mai. I was the new Fire Lord, one of strength and peace, and I am learning what happened to my mother.
As I walked into Uncle's reclaimed tea shop, everything felt like it set it into place. Mai was actually laughing, Sokka and Suki were gorging on some of Uncle's lotus cake, and Katara and Aang have finally made their feelings for each other clear. But as I looked at them, something felt wrong.
Katara. She was the only one who truly got me. I was happy with Mai but something didn't settle well in my stomach.
As Aang and Katara walked back in, I saw her tan skin blush. She was happy. I was happy. I couldn't jeopardize our friendship and finally my happiness for a small flutter, could I?
Unknowingly, I had been looking at Katara for a few moments when Mai took notice.
"Hey, everything alright?" she asked questioningly.
"Everything's fine" I said while turning towards her. I didn't want to give her a reason to be angry with me again. She made my life better, she saved me from Azula. She supported me, even when I couldn't support myself. But my heart always paced fast for Katara. Now I was conflicted.
