His blonde hair just fell short of his eyes, gently moving in the wind as he stared into the sky. He moved forward to adjust the telescope, smiling slightly as the stars began to present themselves in the night sky. The moon shone brightly, reflecting in his amber eyes. He moved his glasses up, and turned to smile at Yamaguchi,
"Do you want to look?"
He smiled back at him, nodding enthusiastically, and moving to stand in front of the telescope. The taller boy leaned over him, occasionally commenting on the different constellations that could be seen. Every so often, the stars seemed to take their place in Tsukishima's eyes, and Yamaguchi couldn't help but stare.
"What's that one?", he said, pointing upwards.
"Ah, that's Cassiopeia. She was the wife of King Cepheus, and she thought she was the most beautiful being to exist. The sea nymphs begged Poseidon to change her ways, so he sent a monster to their kingdom. However, Cassiepeia and King Cepheus appeased to the monster by chaining their daughter Andromeda to a rock, as a sacrifice. However, Andromeda was saved by the hero Perseus, and Cassiopeia and her husband were fated to die at the ends of the monster as punishment for their sins. But it's believed the Gods punished her by forcing her to live with her mistakes in the stars forever. King Cepheus is out there too, but they're generally not seen together."
As he finished speaking, he sighed slightly, and adjusted the telescope again,
"Of course there's no guarantee it's true. Probably just a story."
Yamaguchi looked back up at the constellation Tsukishima had described, and smiled.
"Even if it was just a story, the way you told it was super cool Tsukki!! It sounded totally real!"
At that, Tsukishima laughed, returning Yamaguchi's smile,
"Thanks."
The door behind them opened and Akiteru stepped out, shivering at the sudden cold.
"Ah, you two should probably come back inside, it's freezing! I'll make you both some hot chocolate."
Tsukishima carefully put the telescope back into its casing, and walked back inside with Yamaguchi. Akiteru had already got to work on making the hot chocolates, selecting two light green cups for the both of them. After he'd mixed the water and chocolate powder together, he added milk, and squirted some whipped cream on top. He handed the first cup to Yamaguchi, while Tsukishima took his own. Yamaguchi went to take a sip, but ended up with whipped cream smudged around his mouth, not that he realised. Tsukishima stood up, poking Yamaguchi to get his attention,
"Wanna head up to my room?"
Yamaguchi, noticing Tsukishima's empty cup, finished his hot chocolate in one sip, and nodded eagerly.
"Sure!!"
They left their cups next to the sink, and headed up the stairs, and walked down the hall. Once they got the end of the hall, they entered Tsukishima's room, and both sat down on the bed. Once they'd both organised the blankets, and turned off the lights, they lay back to back, talking about some of the constellations they might be able to see on other nights. By far, Yamaguchi's favourite one was still Cassiopeia, which Tsukishima couldn't understand at all.
"It's about someone trying to sacrifice her own daughter to a monster! There's nothing nice about it, how can you like it?"
Yamaguchi laughed, attempting to stay quiet,
"Because Tsukki told the story really well, so I think it's cool!"
Tsukishima couldn't help but sigh at how excited he was, claiming he'd probably told the story wrong anyways. He yawned mid-sentence, and Yamaguchi leaned over him to check the time,
"Oh wow, it's really late, we should probably sleep.."
Apologising in advance, Tsukishima turned his bedside light on so that he could turn the alarm off for the next day, ensuring they'd be able to sleep in. As he turned the lights off, he took his glasses off and smiled at Yamaguchi.
"Thanks for spending the day with me on my birthday. I appreciate it."
He got back into the bed, and felt Yamaguchi tug at his shirt,
"Happy birthday, Tsukki...your 11 now...older than me.."
His words were stifled by a yawn, and he relaxed against Tsukki, falling asleep in seconds.
