It was finally the day of the 3v3, and Yamaguchi, for once, had woken up early. Him and Tsukishima had arrived at the gym first, and had to wait for the third years to open it for them. He helped Daichi set up the net, and all that was left was to wait for Kageyama and Hinata to show up.

"Are you excited to play Tsukki?"

Yamaguchi sat next to Tsukishima on the bench, stretching his legs as he waited.

"It's just a 3v3. It doesn't really matter either way."

Pretty much what I expected him to say.

Yamaguchi laughed a little, and stood up.

"Well I'm gonna try my best, ok?"

Tsukishima didn't say anything else, but reluctantly did some stretches as well. Yamaguchi couldn't help but stare as Tsukishima's sweater rode up slightly, showing his stomach and-

Nope! Gotta! Concentrate!! On the game!!!

Forcing himself to look away, he finished off stretching and attempted to practice some serves against the wall to distract himself.

Kageyama and Hinata finally showed up, and the game had started without much delay. They'd ended up losing, but it was definitely a fun game. At least, he thought so. When the game was over, Hinata had tried to shake Tsukishima's hand, to show that they were on the same team. However, that only ended in a lot of shouting, and from Tsukishima, mocking of Hinata's height. Which didn't go down well.

Tsukishima offered to let Yamaguchi stay over at his house, seeing as he lived closer and it was getting late. Yamaguchi agreed, sending a message to his mum to let her know what was happening. Once they got in, Tsukishima went to take a bath, leaving Yamaguchi sitting alone on his bed. He fell backwards, letting his legs dangle off of the edge, and closed his eyes. A few minutes passed, and he felt someone poke his forehead. He opened his eyes, and found Tsukishima leaning over him, his hair still slightly damp, his fringe drooping over his eyes and - Yamaguchi looked away.

"Were you seriously asleep? It's been like 5 minutes."

"I was tired! I've been running around pretty much all day." Yamaguchi declared adamantly, rubbing his eyes. Tsukishima laughed, and laid down next to Yamaguchi.

"I-I can go get the futon if your going to sleep..?" Yamaguchi asked hesitantly, getting up off of the bed.

"Too much effort. Besides, not like we've not shared a bed before."

Tsukishima looked at him for a few seconds, then turned the light off. Only a few seconds later, Yamaguchi was pressed up against Tsukishima,

"You know, I'm pretty sure the bed used to be bigger..." he muttered quietly, trying to cover himself with the blankets.

"More like we were smaller." Tsukishima turned away from the wall, facing Yamaguchi. Not long after that, he fell asleep, but Yamaguchi was still awake, staring at Tsukishima, his face flushed as he did.

What am I even doing? Staring at my friend as he sleeps? That's really creepy. I should stop.

He turned away from him, and desperately tried to sleep.

Yamaguchi had suggested that they go into town to get some food, to which Tsukishima obliged. As they were in the confectionary aisle, buying sweets (and the obligatory strawberry shortcake for Tsukishima), Yamaguchi noticed a short, blonde haired girl desperately trying to reach strawberry pocky on the top shelf. He walked over, leaving Tsukishima with the basket of food.

"Hi! Do you want me to grab that for you?" He said cheerfully, to which she looked instantly grateful, offering a smile back at him.

"If you wouldn't mind that'd be great.."

He reached up and retrieved the pocky from the shelf, handing it over. She put it in her basket, which was filled with various other sweets, and some soda cans. She noticed him looking, and blushed instantly,

"T-they're for a study session! I concentrate better when I have motivation s-so I'm buying a bunch-"

"A-ah, don't worry, I'm exactly the same, haha.."

They both stood awkwardly for a few seconds, not making eye contact. Realising this was the perfect opportunity to possibly make a new friend, he introduced himself. She fumbled with the hem of her shirt, and eventually responded with her own name. Yachi Hitoka. They spoke for a few more minutes, mainly relating over their love of sweets, and ended up exchanging numbers, with the agreement to meet up for a study session together. When they finally parted ways, he turned to see that Tsukishima, and the basket of food, had disappeared. He wandered around the store, and eventually found him staring down a small dinosaur plushie. Yamaguchi stood next to him, waiting for him to notice that he was there.

"Tsukki, do you want the dinosaur plushie?"

"No. Let's go."

He spun around, walking towards the tills, not waiting for Yamaguchi to catch up.

"Ah, wait up!"

He ran after him, paid for the food, and then they both went their separate ways. As he was walking home, his phone buzzed in his pocket. He got it out, thinking that Tsukishima had forgotten something. Instead, he found it was a message from Yachi.

Yachi: hi, about that study session, I'm free after school on a Wednesday

Yachi: come to think of it what school do you go to?

Yachi: oh gosh are you a second year??

Yamaguchi: Wednesday works for me! And I go to karasuno, and no, i'm a first year haha

Yachi: thank goodness I thought I was being way too casual

Yachi: I go to karasuno as well, do you wanna meet at the library or something after school?

Yamaguchi: sure! I'll bring some sweets if you do

Yachi: it's a deal! See you there :)

He'd got into the house as he received the last message, and put away his food, taking one of the soda cans upstairs with him.

I finally have another friend..!
