When Amanda sat down my friends looked at her in confusion and I could feel Scott looking at me when I turned my back. I ignored it and pulled out my notebook and began writing another chapter for my book as Amanda began talking with my friends. After a minute I could feel someone looking over my shoulder. I looked and saw Amanda and she looked away like nothing happened, I just chuckled and went back to writing.

“What are you doing?” I heard Amanda ask.

“He’s writing a chapter for one of his books.” Ryan says as he takes a bite of his food.

“I didn’t know you write. Can I read it when you’re done?” Amanda asked.

“Maybe…I’m going to put it on wattpad first…plus you would be confused since I’m writing chapter five right now.” I say as the bell rings when I get halfway done with the chapter. I Shot up, grabbed my backpack and ran to my sixth block class…which I was gonna be late for.

The school day had ended and I had just started walking to the hospital. Sure he’s a complete asshole but I’m still worried about him. I was stopped when I heard Amanda’s voice over the sound of her engine. and I looked back.

“Hey Adam! Need a ride!?” I smiled and got in her car when she pulled over to let me in.

“Where to?” She asked me.

“The hospital…” I simply said as I put on my seatbelt.

“Why the hospital?”

“M-my dad was in a wreck last night…and this morning he was in critical condition.” Her eyes had a look of empathy in them…I think. She was wearing her sunglasses so i couldn’t tell that well.

“I hope he’s ok…let’s get going.” She then drove off.

We arrive at the hospital and I run in with Amanda right behind me. I got to the front desk and caught my breath.

“Rob Lockhart?” She looked at me with pity in her eyes.

“Room 513…” I darted down the hall to the elevator and when Amanda got in she fell to her knees to catch her breath.

“You know…for a guy like you…you can run pretty fast!” She caught her breath as the elevator door closed and stood up. The elevator opened a minute later and I rushed down the hall and into my fathers room and I saw my mother sitting in a chair next to the bed. Amanda caught up and wheezed.

“God damn I feel like I’m going to die! Oh…sorry.” My mom looked up and I walked over. When I saw my dad I wanted to break down and cry.

“Adam…is that you?” I heard him ask and I walked to his side an knelt down.

“I’m here dad…” He looked at me and smiled.

“I thought you wouldn’t come…I’m glad you did. Adam…I want you to know…I’m sorry for everything.” I smiled and I felt a tear go down my face.

“I forgive you dad…” He smiled at me. and I heard the beeping from the heart monitor slow down.

“I don’t have much time left…I love you son…” He then looked at my mom who was crying, “and I love you…Darla…” The heart monitor flatlined…

He was gone.
