Austin's POV

"Come on," I say to my group. Together, we pull out our weapons and walk into a guard tower. We kill the lone cloaked figure there and they disappear into thin air, like they were made of smoke.

"Set up the light," Thalia said to Hunter. Hunter nodded and pressed a button, setting off a beacon.

The groups had decided before leaving that we would turn on the beacons when we conquered a watch post so people would know we were here.

"One down. Let's keep going," Ryan said. We left out through the other door in the guard tower, which allowed us to continue travelling along the walls of the castle.

We killed another three guards and dominated another tower. As we ran along, Ryan suddenly stopped us.

"Don't go any farther. Something is wrong..."

Suddenly, a massive smoke monster leapt out of nowhere and started attacking us. I pulled out my platinum sword and starting chopping at it, but there was no damage being done. It whacked me and I flew backwards, but managed to land on my feet.

"Austin! Over here!" Thalia called. I ran over to their hiding spot and slipped inside.

"Guys, how do you kill smoke? Slashing a sword at it won't do anything! We need some way of blowing it away so that it disperses," Hunter said.

"That's a good plan. But how are we going to do that?" Ryan asked.

"Like this," Thalia said. "We 're going to get it's attention, and then when it's distracted, I can spawn in a diamond wind!"

I stare at her.

"Why didn't you tell us you had super cool powers before? I've known you for 100 years!"

"I wanted you to treat me like a normal person," Thalia said simply.

Ryan sighed.

"Whatever. Let's just get on with this before we get killed by smoke!"

Hunter, Ryan and I ran out of our hiding spot and starting waving our hands in the air. The smoke monster looked at us and growled, making a sound like thunder.

I could see Thalia running around the rear of the smoke monster and forming a wind. Her hair was blowing everywhere and she shot the air at the monster. It's face blew towards us before disappearing.

We all stared at her and she shrugged.

"What?" she asked, grinning slightly.

"Nothing. Let's go," Hunter said.
