A couple of weeks later...
Mary lay down on her bed and sunk into it. She felt tired and sick, all side effects of her pregnancy. Remembering she had a ball to go to that night, she sighed and sat up, deciding what dress to wear. Francis opened their chamber door and walked over to Mary, kissing her neck in the spot that always made her breathe quicker. She spun around and pulled Francis closer to her.
"I love you" she whispered in his ear.
"I love you too" he replied, kissing her passionately. Mary put her hands either side of his face, returning the passionate kiss. Francis moved his hands to her back and quickly untied her corset. Mary reached for Francis shirt and pulled it off, running her hands over his bare chest. Still kissing, they walked over to their bed and Francis gently pushed Mary onto it, getting on top of her.
"We haven't got long" Mary said between kisses.
"Let's be quick then." Francis grinned.
Later at the ball...
Francis looked lovingly at Mary. She looked so beautiful and radiant now that she was pregnant. He had heard this could happen to women but he never believed it. Now he knew that it was true. She was wearing his favourite white dress, it was lacy and reminded him of her wedding dress and how beautiful she had looked that day. Her hair was down with two small plaits pinned at the back, her small diamond tiara sitting perfectly on her head. All Francis wanted to do was kiss her, but he knew it wasn't appropriate in the middle of court.
They had planned that tonight they would announce Mary's pregnancy, at the spring ball. At the moment they were the only ones who knew. It was blissful when they only knew, they were surrounded by so many people who knew so much about them all the time and having this one secret brought them closer together. However Mary was starting to show and people would start guessing soon.
In the middle of the ball, Mary walked into the centre of the room and everyone went quiet, they all knew she had something to say.
"Thank you for all coming tonight." She spoke loudly and clearly. "I am very excited to say that me and my husband, the king have something to announce." People started to mumble excitedly as Francis went to stand next to Mary. "We are happy to announce that I am carrying an heir to France and Scotland." Everyone's faces lit up, it had been the announcement everyone had been waiting for since Mary and Francis got married a year ago.
"Once again, thank you for coming." Mary walked back to the corner of the room and the ball continued, more alive than before. Francis went towards Mary and kissed her on the cheek.
"Well done my love" he whispered, for he knew Mary was nervous. Catherine came running towards them, a big smile on her face. "Here we go" Francis said through a fake smile.
"Mary why didn't you tell me you were with child!?" Catherine exclaimed. Mary opened her mouth to talk but was cut off by Catherine. "I have so much to educate you on!" She tried to lead Mary away but Greer, Lola And Kenna came over to congratulate Mary before she could.
"Congratulations Mary!" Greer beamed.
"I can't believe you're pregnant!" Jenna hugged her. Lola smiled and whispered her congratulations.
"Thank you all" Mary smiled at them. "I think I will retire now, this baby is making me extremely tired." She smiled once more and walked out of the room, catching Francis's eye so he would follow.
"Are you alright?" He asked, looking concerned.
"I'm fine, just tired" she replied as they reached their chambers. Mary got out of her dress and into her nightdress.
Francis climbed into bed next to Mary and cuddled up to her. Mary gasped and Francis sat up, worried.
"What's wrong?" He was alarmed.
"Nothings wrong" Mary laughed. "I just felt the baby kick." She reached for his hand and placed it on her stomach, which was now a small bump. The baby kicked strongly, and Mary and Francis both smiled.
"Our baby" Francis beamed.
"Our baby" Mary repeated.
They lay down again and drifted off to sleep, still holding Mary's bump.
