Francis lay looking at Mary lovingly, waiting for her to wake. He thought about their future child, and how amazing it felt to finally start a family with Mary. She still lay still, and although Francis was desperate to talk to her about their unborn child, she looked so peaceful and he couldn't bear to wake her.

Warm sunlight poured into the room, reflecting off the windows and casting patterns across the walls. All Francis could think was that his life was perfect. The idea came to his head that while Mary was still up to travelling, they could go away somewhere, not too far, but far away enough that they could forget all the troubles of French court, and just be with each other.

Francis's thoughts were broken off by Mary stirring. She opened her eyes and looked at Fracis lovingly.

"I love you dearly Francis but do you have to watch me sleep?" She stroked his chin.

"I couldn't resist, you look so beautiful." He smiled. "How are you feeling?" He planted a kiss on her cheek and pulled some hair out of her face, tucking it behind her ear.

"I feel the smallest bit nauseous, but I'm sure it will pass" she replied. "I'm just so happy." Francis leaned in and kissed her lips.

"I'm glad your happy." He sat up, Mary following. "Shall we keep the baby a secret, just for a few weeks? I want to enjoy this time, just you and me."

"It's a plan" Mary smiled "It's just going to be hard keeping it from your mother, she's such a detective. The second I start showing she'll know."

"Don't worry. I'll keep all rumours away and my mother won't notice a thing. We can tell everyone when you start to show to keep everyone from questioning." Francis kissed her again, and placed his hand on Mary's stomach. "We will love this baby more than anything."

"I already love it more than anything" Mary smiled and place her hand over Francis's. "Over these past weeks I've been wondering if our child will have your curls, or your eyes or be a blend of us both."

"Whatever it looks like, I just want a healthy baby to finally make us a family." Francis bent down and kissed Mary's stomach. "You will be an amazing mother"

"And you an amazing father. You are so good with your brothers, and John." Francis looked away. Mary was so good to John and allowed Francis to be as present in Johns life as possible, but Francis still knew that having John around was hard for Mary. Francis hoped it would get easier when they had their own family to look after.

"We should get up." Francis sighed, moving from the bed. "The duties of court await."
