Mary woke up with a familiar feeling in her stomach. She looked next to her and saw Francis still sleeping. It was early, she could tell from the light peaking through the curtains. Their room was still a bit dark, she couldn't wake Francis up yet as much as she wanted to. Mary tried to fall back asleep but ended up thinking about her present to Francis instead.
After a couple of hours, Francis began to stir. Mary softly placed a kiss on his lips, and he smiled in return, showing to Mary that he was awake.
"Good morning." Francis spoke softly, rubbing Mary's cheek.
"Good morning." Mary replied pulling him in for a kiss. Francis deepened the kiss, his hand moving down towards her waist. He kissed her neck and she moved her head back, signalling that she was enjoying what Francis was doing. Francis stopped to tease Mary and she murmured his name. He smiled and pulled the covers over their heads.
A few hours later, Mary went to the nursery to visit James. She picked him up out of his cot and kissed his curls.
"Good morning James." She cooed at him. James smiled in return, trying to grab at Mary's hair. "Are you ready to see Papa?" She said as she lifted him from his cot and held him on her hip. James giggled as they walked into Francis and Mary's chambers.
Francis was sat on their bed and smiled from ear to ear as soon as he saw James. He picked him up from Mary's arms and started chatting away, Mary smiled. Seeing Francis with their child made her happier these ever, it had taken so long and so much heartbreak for them to get to this point. Mary beamed as she sat down next to Francis and played with James.
Later that afternoon Mary left James with Chatherine so that her and Francis could have some time to themselves in order to celebrate their anniversary. Mary and Francis walker hand in hand until they reached the woods, where they sat on a blanket and admired the castle. Mary looked and Francis and saw him gazing at her.
"Stop! It's creepy Francis!" She laughed.
"I can't help it." He replied "you are so beautiful, especially today." He kissed her.
"And you look very handsome today." She smiled and stroked his cheek. They sat in a comfortable silence for a few moments, just enjoying the quiet and each other's company, it was a welcome break from court.
"I have a present for you." Mary suddenly said looking at Francis.
"I thought we agreed no presents!" Francis sounded slightly annoyed.
"I know but this was kind of your fault as well." She smiled at his confusion.
"What do you mean?" He asked
Mary reaches for his hand and placed it on her stomach where there was a slight bump. Francis's eyes widened.
"Are you...?" He trailed off, not wanting to say it in case he was wrong.
"I'm pregnant again." Mary beamed. Francis immediately kissed her and slowly laid her into the ground. He kissed her deeply and she laughed. Three were about to become four.
