Grimm Morning

A loud knocking woke Mei up in the morning. And by loud, what is meant is wood shatteringly, painfully, extremely fortissimo, loud, and accompanied by varied bouts of hysteric yelling where the pitch of the voice rose about two octaves with every exclamation, followed by short periods of time where the knocker breathed heavily and listened for something. It didn't seem like whomever it was was knocking on her door, however, investigating seemed like a good idea. Taking a page from Diana's book, Mei picked up a shoe from her closet and went towards the door, which she hadn't locked because she didn't have a key. She opened the door just enough to peer out through a small crack in the door. Squinting to make out the shape in the early morning, she recognized a rather familiar head of red hair in front of Faustus's door, "mrff," she groaned, opening the door, "why are you up so early?"

Gaius whirled around, not recognizing the tired girl for a moment because of her bed head, "You stay outta this. This is between my brothers and I, and those menaces," this had to have been the calmest sentence the boy had ever said, though he ruined it by kicking the door again.

Faustus appeared a second later, wearing his pajama pants and a t-shirt, and smiling like the world was all fine and dandy, "Good morning brother mine! What is it you wanted to see me about?"

Mei was taken aback. Mr. Pessimism was smiling. This must have been a momentous occasion.

Gaius seemed less impressed, yelling, "I'VE BEEN STANDING OUT HERE FOR TEN MINUTES!"

Faustus dropped the act, chuckling as his brother kept yelling, "works every time," he watched his brother for a few seconds before becoming very serious, "OK but seriously, what do you want? I was trying to sleep."

Gaius stopped, mid growl, looked at his brother in surprise, then made another frustrated noise, "That brat and her brother are here from the kingdom!"

Faustus shrugged, unmoved, "So?"

"What do you mean 'so'?! She's a menace!!!" Gaius's face was turning redder by the second.

"Who exactly are we talking about...?" Mei yawned.

"It's that crazy Alexiendra! Her and her brother are sitting around in the parlour! I only just managed to avoid being seen!" Gaius explained.

"Do you plan on telling Mei why you aren't fond of them?" Faustus asked boredly, a small smirk appearing on his pale face.

"I don't need to explain anything to her!" Gaius yelled, turning angrily towards his room. He closed the door loudly behind him.

"What's going on?" Raine ran around the corner, followed closely by Atticus.

Faustus sighed, "Lexi and the Shadow have decided to make an appearance."

Atticus frowned worriedly, "W-what are they doing here?"

"Dunno. Gaius's the only one who's seen them," Faustus shrugged.

"Well, since it's um, obvious we won't get any more information from him, maybe we should investigate?" Atticus suggested.

"Strange that mom hasn't come to tell us to go see them yet..." Faustus mused, "probably should all get dressed too," this statement caused everyone to remember that they were all still in their pajamas.

"Probably a good idea," Raine agreed, nodding.

"Yeah... we um, really don't need any more reasons for dear ol' Lexi to ridicule our um... fashion choices..." Atticus rubbed the back of his neck nervously.

"Let's go huh? Standin' around like a bunch of gossipy chickens..." Faustus retreated into his room.

Raine looked at the sleepy Mei, who was practically falling asleep against her door, "Mei, come on. Get dressed ok?"
