There is a long and comprehensive history of human's mistakes. Just because we appear smarter than the normal animal, does not mean we have always used that to our advantage. Take mercury as an example. Many medicines in the early 1900's had lead in them, as a way to cure certain ailments. However, it has now of course been discovered that these medicines did much more harm then good. I think this is a good statement for what humanity seems to cause in general.

More harm than good.

To the human's curious mind, nothing cannot not be tampered with. Whether it be the brain or the ecosystem of the planet, shouldn't they have known to take a step back and look at the bigger picture we question ourselves now. Just wonder what they will say about us in the future?

That's why we needed to take the next steps of evolution quicker. To advance to the next level, so that we could survive our mistakes more easily. Dr Alexander Pickens devoted his life to this cause, writing paper after paper and making some of the largest leaps in the study of medicines and evolution that the 21st century had ever seen. While his research was not quite perfected for the general population by the time The War rolled around, his formula was able to launch about a quarter of a million people into what was claimed to be the next stage of evolution.

These "New Humans" as they were known at the time had more efficient brains that could learn and calculate faster than ever. New skills could be gained at ease and all seemed to have the best talents the human race had to offer. They were immune to most common diseases, had access to photogenic memory, they grew taller and stronger, and beauty standards were raised.

When The War was all said and done, a huge amount of the general humans had been lost, and the world had seemingly fallen apart. Nations and countries where non-existent, and all that was left were individuals fighting for survival. So, the New Humans brought all to a county that had been hardly touched by The War, and began to rebuild society. They gave themselves a new species name, Homo Evolvo. They lived in harmony at the beginning, and research began into the homo evolvo and how to unlock all their new advantages.

It was soon discovered that the homo evolvo had access to what are now known as talents, thought before to only be known to fairy tales. Every individual had different sets of talents, with some have many talents. A new system was put in place in order to keep track of all these new talents, known as the Thousand Level System (TLS). The sorting of the population is done with brain scanners and undisclosed tests done at birth.

Homo sapiens were know known then on as the Thousandth's.

However, by the time the system had been put into place, Thousandth's had started dying out as a species. They were taken into the high government, governed by the level 100 and up. They began on the journey of species conservation.

As the talents were unlocked, a very special brain mechanism became known to the homo evolvo. Humans now had a process that had some similarity of that of wolves with mating for life. When the human brain would reach sexual maturation, which of course presented differently from person to person, it would be able to recognise the perfect counterpart for healthy reproduction. The brain then would identify that person to themselves. The brain would just let them know. Sexual maturation occurs at ages 18 – 35 as discovered by Professor Anne Blakely. Most have already matured by 18, which is when most mateships are formed.

Due to the nature of the mate bond, the most common occurrence of it would be through one having a singular mate close to your TLS#. However, in lower numbers of the TLS, it is also common for someone never to find their mate. This is thought to be because of the closer relation to Thousandth's. Thousandth's are known to be able to have mates, as shown in a couple of very rare cases, but they have no access to their brain feature to be able to recognise their mate as their mate. Due to this, people who do not find their mate by age 35 are permitted by the state to have mating ceremonies with those who also have not found a mate. By the same card, this also mean the nature of the mate bond can allow for multiple mates. This is more common in the higher numbered TLS's.

Society settled after these advancements were discovered, and no more advancement discoveries of note have occurred since. The human evolution has also been noted as decreasing in speed, which is thought to coincide with the birth of The Zero's. This occurred around a hundred years past the advancement of mates in society. Four children born from different parents were tested separately as per the normal. However, when it came to their result, it was discovered that the only level that would make sense to place them under would be TLS# 0. At around the same time, the conservation of the Thousandth's came to an end, as the last couple died attempting to escape the conservation. When the Zero's turn twenty-one, they will be granted rulership over the society, passed over by the higher level's council.
At this books time of writing, the Zero's are 20, due to turn 21 this year, and they will receive leadership of the society halfway through the year, one week after the Mate Ball.

The beginning of the search of the mate, that everyone must go through, starts at their first Mate Ball. Every unmated person between the ages 18 and 35 attends the ball in the one evening where all the levels can easily meet and greet each other without the usual constraints. The Zero's will greet each unmated personally as they enter the Ball, in order to have the highest chance of discovering their mate as well as being able personally meet their future subjects, something they don't often have a chance to do.

After the Mate Ball, there is six months of school left for each eighteen-year-old, before they attend their Assignment Day where they are sorted into their career and new living quarters. Not only their level but also their mate's level influences this. Lower levels will move into the higher partners living quarters, and their jobs will be reconsidered due the nature of travel. However, this is only a large problem for about 15% of the population.

And there is your breif history! This is another book that I have been playing around with for quite a while (six yearsish). This one has gone through many character changes, and I've decided to keep it as a slight fanfiction just because I think it plays in nicely with the story. If you want a casting list for the story let me know.

As with all my stories, the banner holds a piece of music I think goes really well with the chapter, but that's just my opinion. I think in this story, even more than other, I'll be using kpop tracks as it is a fanfiction towards that industry. The song for today, I really loved this collaboration and it just hit some of the themes I'm trying to express so well.

Anyway, I'll get onto posting the next chapter. Remember to vote if you like what you read, and leave your thoughts in the comments. Keep your hearts true little primroses.
