Chapter 1

-3rd person POV-

"Help... me... child..."

"W-what - who are you?"

"You know me."

"N-no, I don't - what are you talking about?!! Who are you?"

"That power... It could sustain me for another five hundred years..."

A figure emerged from the dark, but when he opened his mouth to speak, all that came was a high-pitched voice. "Solstice-sama! Wake up!"

The girl sat up. This person is Solstice Quicksilvia, a member of the Leaping Panther wizard guild in a small town between Magnolia and Hargeon. The little boy who woke the said wizard is Khann, who was taken in by the guild when he was found abandoned on the doorsteps of the guild hall.

"Solstice-sama!" There was a pounding at the door. Solstice sighed inwardly. She'd been having the same dream for the whole week, always jolting out of it when she was about to see the figure's face. She knew it was a he, or at least she hoped so, because it certainly sounded like a guy. And he sounded oddly familiar. 

Strange.

"Solstice-sama!" Khann called again and the wizard groaned, rubbed her eyes and shouted, "What is it, Khann?!!"

"You gotta come!! There's a new S-Class quest! Well, I think it's new. I don't check on S-Class that much. Anyway, hurry and come to the guild hall! I really wanna see it!" And with that came the sound of rapidly receding footsteps, leading away from her door to some other unknown destination.

It has been a month since her S-Class qualification test. She - along with Pegasus, her flying steed - had undergone a series or trials (most of which were considered impossible for non-wizards) and she still wasn't fully recovered from the major injury she had sustained. After all, it had been pretty bad: a massive wound in her gut. So, she had resolved to not even look or hear about an S-Class request for a month, and that time period was now up.

Yawning, Solstice made her way to the bathroom, stripped, turned the shower on and began to shampoo her hair, combing the tangles and knots out with her fingers. It was always a problem to decide the temperature of the water - she used both ice magic and fire dragon slayer magic - but no one knew that.

Not even them. Only Pegasus. Everyone else thought she only used ice make.

She finished scrubbing and grabbed a towel, making her way to the closet. She chose her trademark clothes: a sleeveless shirt (the colour depended on her magic choice) and white shorts. Her raven-black hair was glossy and smooth, reaching her shoulder blades. This was usually her setup when she was planning to take up a request; if not, she just wore a plain white dress.

She had rested for a month, and therefore was ready to go get a job again. And to start it off with a bang, she was going to go on her first S-Class quest. She grabbed her pack (she always had it filled with necessary and emergency supplies like potions for when she went out) and jogged to the guild hall, where Khann and Pegasus, the winged horse, were impatiently tapping their feet - or in some cases, hooves - with arms crossed. 

"Solstice-sama!!" Khann ran to her and threw his arms around her waist. It was brief, however, and before she knew it she was being dragged by the boy to the second floor where the S-Class requests resided.

The guild hall was an impressive building. Outside was an iron gate with the Leaping Panther insignia on a dark blue backing. The building itself was made of indestructible dark blue ice, thanks to the works of Solstice and a few other ice wizards in the guild. Of course, they were pretty much neighbors with Magnolia's guild, Fairy Tail, and rivaled it as the most powerful guild in Fiore.

The inside of the hall was even better than the exterior. The walls were one-way ice, an ice version of one-way glass. Then, the guild members can keep track of what was happening outside.

The hall had five floors, three of which were balconies, that separated the different request levels from each other.

At the bottom floor were the normal-level requests that most guild members went on. Then there were S-Class quests, SS-Class quests, Decade quests and finally, Century quests. Only four people in the guild including Solstice could go to the second floor and above that. It was quite the privilege. 

Solstice stared at the S-Class request board, wanting to find the easiest job, when one caught her eye. She grabbed it and went downstairs to Khann.

"So," she placed it on the counter, "is this what you're talking about?"

The little boy nodded. "Are you going to take it? A two million Jewel award, and one of the Twelve Golden Keys!" Then he frowned. "At least, I think it's a golden key."

"Oi, Sol!" Jay called from the bar. "Care to join me for dinner tonight?"

The ice wizard rolled her eyes. "No, Jay," she said. "Going on a job today."

Jay Shrapnel is another ice wizard in Leaping Panther and has a massive crush on Solstice like many others in the guild. That is because she sometimes poses as a model for the Sorcerer Weekly magazine with Mirajane of Fairy Tail during her free time.

"Oh?" Alexia looked up from the said magazine. "Where are you going?" This wizard is Alexia Garderia, a plant wizard. She is Solstice's best friend and gets along with almost everyone she meets, thanks to her funny personality.

Solstice read it aloud. "Galuna Island, off the coast of Hargeon." 

Dead silence met those words. Then everyone started talking at once.

"Galuna Island?!!"

"The Demon Isle!"

"They say the island is cursed!!"

"Don't go, Sol!! It's suicide!"

"I'm going," Solstice said firmly, cutting off the stream of protests. "I'll take Pegasus with me. I'll be fine."

Little did she know that the last statement was far from the truth, and her life was about to take an unexpected twist...

...Because in Fairy Tail, Magnolia, four non S-Class wizards have set it for themselves to also finish that job, having stolen it from their own guild hall.

What will happen to the six wizards? Will all get back alive and in one piece, or was taking this job a very risky gamble?
