Fairy Tail | Dragons, Demons, Fairies and Cats

Chapter 2

-3rd person POV-

"Pegasus! We're here!"

Galuna Island is off the coast of Hargeon. The island itself is in a peculiar shape, resembling a crescent moon. It is said this island was used to gather moonlight, but most assume it is just a legend or myth.

Solstice laughed, but the smile dropped off her lips when she spied what was left of a small fishing boat scattered on the beach. With a shake of her head, she dismissed the image and circled the island for the village.

"There," she murmured. 

The winged horse twitched his ears in acknowledgement and sped down to reveal three people and a cat arguing with the townspeople at the top of a massive gate. Although they were all shouting, she could only catch small snippets of their conversation that went something like this:

"Are you from the Leaping Panther wizard guild?"

"No, we're from Fairy Tail."

"Stay away! We only got word that Leaping Panther was coming!"

"But since we're here, can't you just let us in?!!"

Pegasus landed and trotted to the Fairy Tail wizards, glancing down at them with Solstice on her back.

The ice wizard narrowed her eyes. "What is the meaning of this?"

"All right, who are you?!! More people from Fairy Tail?"

Solstice's icy gaze cut into the guard, and the man rapidly closed his mouth.

"Do not compare me to the fairies," she said coldly. "Now, are you going to tell me what this is about? Why are they here?"

"Are you from Leaping Panther?" The guard asked, obviously relieved. Solstice nodded slightly. "Marks?"

The ice wizard lifted her wrist into the air while dismounting, and the horse twisted his neck. The men grunted in satisfaction and shouted something over his shoulder. The gate slowly rose.

Solstice turned to study the Fairy Tail wizards again to find the two boys gaping at her.

The pinkish haired one burst into nervous flames. "No way," he gasped. "Are you actually...?!!"

The other boy with black hair was vaguely muttering something, eyes unfocused, as he compared her with another person in his head. Who is this girl? She looks just like... like her... That's not possible!!

Solstice cleared her throat awkwardly and they both snapped back into the present. She sighed and motioned for them to follow her in.

"You should come in," she said. "You're her now. Might as well make yourselves useful by helping me."

-Natsu's POV-

"I bid you welcome! I am Moka, the village headman."

As soon as we are through the gate, we are confronted by the headman and the rest of the people. I can see my friends frowning slightly, and I understand why. Everyone is wearing a covering of some sort.

"There is something you need to see immediately. Everyone, take off your cloaks."

There are several muffled thuds and my friends gasp. The other girl - Solstice - merely narrows her silver eyes and calmly assesses the situation. It isn't that surprising she takes it without betraying her emotions; if she is who I think she is, she would have seen stranger things.

I don't know why the others are so shocked, though. The guy who let us have a ride here had the same thing: demonic, disfigured limbs and in some cases, even horns. Heck, I want one!

"Mister..." Gray says. "What is - what happened -"

"We were cursed!" Moka announces. "As you may have heard, our island gathers moonlight." I hear a sharp intake of breath from Lucy and Happy. So the legends are true. "But one night, a strange event occurred. The moon -"

"-Turned purple," Solstice finished, looking him straight in the eye. 

Lucy turns, obviously flabbergasted. The headman is shocked, I can tell. "How did you -"

"Wait a sec," I say. "The moon can't turn purple. It isn't even purple, so what makes you think that? Well, it's the truth I guess, so how do you know that?"

The Leaping Panther wizard glares at me and I instantly shut up. To be honest, I don't know why I'm challenging her. Maybe it's the fact that she is at least three times stronger than me. Maybe it's because I'm intimidated by this beautiful girl with a flying horse. Whatever it is, I'm going to get roasted alive by her if I don't think before I speak from now on. And that is quite a feat, considering I can't be burned or roasted by anyone. Literally. 

The girl let out a sigh of resignation. "Research."

"Ah." I feel so stupid. 

"Anyway..." The headman clears his throat. "Every time the moon comes out, we -" His words are cut off with a strangled gasp.

"Natsu, look!" Happy yells at me. 

Wow. The moon is purple.

There are screams of pain from the villagers and we turn back to find a gruesome sight.

All the people are now in full demon form; men, women, even children and animals. I gulp.

"My apologies," Moka says. "Whenever the moon comes out, we take on these horrible forms!"

"Are you sure it's a curse?" A different voice, one that doesn't belong to the five of us, speak up. I realize that it's coming from the horse.

"We were seen by dozens of doctors. They have not seen anything like this before! And so -" he stops, seeming to remember his hospitality, or rather the lack of it. "But I'm getting too far ahead. Please, rest and start searching in the morning. My people will lead you to your accommodations."

"Sir, wait." Solstice stops him. "To begin, we must know what you want us to do." Us. So she is planning to let us stay, after all!

"We have discussed this thoroughly, and reached one possible solution." I brace myself.

"You must destroy the moon!"

So this is the second chapter. This is basically what happens with Fairy Tail (the actual one) but with a different character, so it's good if you haven't actually read or watched Fairy Tail.
