The Scout and The Huntress

Chapter 2 : New Class Added Huntress (edited)

Third Person POV 

It's been months since  Engineer and Ruby had met in the junkyard (which is where she lived). Even though Engie can only be allowed to visit her on every ceasefire day (which is the third sunday on the third week of the month)he makes the time to come and visit his best friend/daughter(he also sees her as a daughter).  Now the thing is even though they got off on a bad start at first. It actually got pretty good from there when Ruby showed him one the weapons of her she was trying to recreate. Including the security system she built ,and sometimes she would tell him the stories about her and friends in Remnant. 

They even help with one another's projects to see if they can improve on some parts. Ah yes the beautiful friendship between an engineer who builds weapon defenses  and a ex-huntress who is also a weapons mechanic and fanatic. Even though it's staying up until midnight or staying over at Ruby's to work on new projects for the RED team, with the help of his new friend/daughter figure of course. Even some of the other mercenaries are starting to notice of their sentry building comrade's absence. 

~~~At the red base~~~  

It was night time at the base and all nine mercs are coming back from the battlefield all bruised and battered from battling the BLUs and also preventing them from getting their intel. "GOOD JOB MAGGOTS!!! THOSE BLUS DIDN'T STAND A CHANCE!! yelled soilder as usual to everyone as they were headed towards the medbay to get patched up by Medic. 

After everyone was healed the mercs decided to do their own thing before they retired for the night. Except for one. Which was Engineer because he promised a certain girl with a red hood that he would visit her, but before he could sneak out towards the door that was connected to the garage. He heard a voice from behind catching him in the act "Where do you think you'r goin Engie?" Scout asked with smirk on his face. 

Here's the thing if you see Scout with that smirk on that face. You know that he's gonna snitch on you for whatever dirt he has on you, if you don't tell him that is. So what did Engineer do? He told him. "Alright alright  I'll tell you, but you'll have to promise that you won't tell the others about this." Engineer told him with a whisper while looked around making sure that the others didn't heard Scout. "I promise I won't tell unless, you tell me why your sentries look more high tech then they  usually do." Scout replied to him. "That's partly the reason why I'm goin. Well you see a few months I met this girl-" , but before he could continue Scout interrupted him by exclaiming in a surprised tone. "A GIR-" Engie then shushed him by putting his hand over Scout's mouth. Then after a few minutes he took his hand off of Scout's mouth when the cost was clear. "Yes a girl, but it's not what you think partner" he replied when he sees Scout's shocked look. 

"Ok ok so let me get this straight. You've been seeing a girl for every ceasefire day for the past few months and didn't have the nerve to invite me?!" he asked Engie slightly offended with his voice raising, but before Engineer could respond. There was a knock at the door "Who's dere?" Scout asked the stranger outside. Only to have the voice belonging to a certain secretary that wears purple all the time.  

"Scout it's me. Ms. Pauling. I need to speak with all of you, it's urgent" Ms. Pauling said as she started knocking again. Scout rushed to door and opened it giving her a smile. "W-What are y-you doin here Ms.....Pauling" he said as he was trying to hide a blush while he looked at her. "No time to explain Scout. Quick gather the other Mercs. There's something I need to tell you." Ms. Pauling told Scout and including Engineer as she rushed inside with a folder holdling a file of some kind.  

~~~Timeskip to after the other Mercs being there~~~ 

After Scout and Engineer gathered the other Mercs to the garage. Ms Pauling started to explain on what the urgent news was "The Administrator is getting tired of all of this." She said in a panicked  voice. For a moment they didn't know how to react except they all have one thought. "What does she mean by that?"  "Let me explain it to each and every one of you." she said after she adjusted her glasses. All 9 of them nodded with a serious look, because it's rare for the administrator's secretary to visit their base. Unless it was something serious. 

 "Each  of you has been here for a very long time. Now listen what I'm going to  say, it may be bad , but it's not gonna effect you or your families in any other way." she said as looked at Sniper Heavy and lastly Scout when she said the last sentence. "Is news really that bad Ms. Pauling?" Heavy then asked her concerned. It was silent in the room for a moment, nobody dared to move a muscle they waited for her to speak. 

Then she started to after she took a deep breath. "I'm afraid that if you don't get through the BLU's defenses and get their intel soon.....Then you can kiss the 10 billion dollars goodbye." (I have a feeling she would've promised them money depending on how long the battle took)  She said to them with a sad look. Silence fell over the room again as she looked at each and every mercenary ,who each have a look of shock on their faces. 

 "I'm sorry boys , but if you don't grab their intel soon then it's over for all of you." She said trying not to shed and tears. As she was securing the file that was in her arms. "Wait wait Ms. Pauling what do you mean that it'll be all over for us." Scout said while trying not to panic. 

"All of your contracts will be dissolved immediately if you don't get the BLU's intel within the next two years. Do I make myself clear" She told Scout and  the other mercs, they all nodded in reply. "Good, now to the other reason on why I'm here." Ms. Pauling said while she opened the file. When she did , a certain baseball cap wearing mercenary was a bit intrigued. When he saw four pictures of a  short black haired girl in different angle who was also wielding a rifle. She could have been his age from the way her long hair and face shined in the photo. 

"She looked like she could've been a model" Thought Scout when he looked at another picture of her , but this time it was her wielding her rifle. "Who's the shiela?" Sniper asked as he took a peek of the photo of her Scout is holding. "The war hero of Remnant herself Ruby Rose." Ms. Pauling said neutrally. After that response all of the mercs were in shock. Well actually it Scout who was shocked and all the other mercs (except engineer) were impressed. 

"We have info from Spy that she's staying somewhere in Teufort and if we find her. I'll ask her if she would join us." Ms. Pauling said with Spy muttering a "You're welcome" under his breath. "But vhy do ve need another merzenary? Ve were fine without her and a woman no lezz." Medic complained he just got a glare from Ms. Pauling. 

"Because Medic she might be your only ticket on getting the money and getting you guys out of here." Ms. Pauling replied to Medic sternly. After a minutes of silence again medic muttered a "fine" under his breath. "What is the lass's class name?" Demoman asked with an eyebrow raised. Ms. Pauling then looked at everyone around the room and then she said. 

"Huntress" 

A/n Hi guys it's angel again and I'm sorry if this chapter is long and rubbish school is weighing me down and stuff also. Just a heads up on the Mercenarie's ages I might mess up on some except for Scout's age since I think that's his actual age , but anyways I hope I don't mess up that bad anyways enjoy.
