Everything was a mess. It was all falling apart.

"Everything ok Nenya?" Peter asked, looking at her with worry in his eyes.

"Umm. I'm fine. Let me... think about it." Nenya said, forcing a smile.

Peter and Susan nodded and they returned to their breakfast.

"Oh, Susan." Nenya turned to her friend, "My necklace broke last night. Do you think I could get another chain for it?"

Suddenly Edmund's eyes went wide and he stood up. "Do you think I could see the necklace?"

Susan nodded. "of course-"

Nenya glanced at Edmund. "I don't see why not. What is so interesting all of a sudden?"

Edmund realized his siblings and Nenya had all turned to stare at him. "Uhhh.."

Nenya rolled her eyes. "I'll just go get it."

When she brought the charm back she handed it to Edmund. "Here." their hands brushed as she placed it in his palm and she let go of the charm and drew back quickly. "You can look at it, I'm going riding."

As she left the room she heard Edmund's smug voice crack a bit as he said. "Peter!"

But she was walking quickly down the hallway before she could hear anymore.

When Nenya returned to the palace, worn out from her days riding, she was met with drawn swords by the guards.

"I'm sorry M'lady." the first, a Centaur said. "We have been given orders to detain you."

"What?" Nenya frowned. "Everything was fine this morning. What could have possibly changed?"

"This." Edmund entered the courtyard, her necklace held in his hand.

"What?" Nenya drew back slightly, stunned by the anger swirling in his eyes. "Edmund I've had that necklace for months!"

"I know," Edmund said, taking a step forward. "And that is exactly why I've been so suspicious. I always had a weird feeling when you were around and when you came to breakfast without the necklace this morning I didn't feel it."

"Edmund...?" Nenya took another step away from the boy.

"This is a shard of the White Witch's Wand!" Edmund was nearly screaming now.

Then Peter was there. A mixture of pain and anger in his eyes, but his face was frozen in a look of sternness. "Take her to a cell down below. We can deal with this in the morning." his voice didn't shake, but as Nenya was pulled away she met his gaze and she could see the uncertainty within them.

"But Peter!" Lucy's voice cut through the humid, summer night air.

"Shh Lucy, we-" Susan was cut off by Lucy's voice again.

"No! Susan, she hasn't done anything. I know it!"

As the metal door closed behind her all Nenya could think was Everything is a mess. Everything is falling apart.
