The cafeteria. The school's infamous Triple Chocolate Cake. It is only served once a month. Because it is such a rare event, everyone rushes to the cafe first thing during lunch time. Remi always gets there late because she is not as fast as everyone else. But today, she has a good feeling that she is going to get that cake.
"Step away from that last slice! I call dibs!" Remi shouts as she reaches for the last slice of the school's Triple Chocolate Cake. The plate that holds the cake is grabbed out of her hands right as she holds it.
"Hey! Give that back Arlo!" Remi shouts. "I called that piece first!"
Arlo looks at Remi in shock. Arlo speaks up. "What? You 'called' it? You should know how it works by now, Remi. It's first come first serve. If you want a piece you gotta be faster than that! Better luck next time, Shrimp!"
Remi hates that nickname. Arlo only calls her that because of the color she dyed her hair. A coral pink.
"No way!" She says. Arlo looks at her in frustration. "I've waited an entire month for that cake. I won't back down!"
Remi activates her power. Electricity jumps from her hands, making a low buzzing sound.
"Hand it over jerk! This is your last warning!" Remi holds out her hand to accept the slice of cake. Arlo smirks at her.
"Oh! So that's how you want to play?" Arlo loosens his tie. He holds the cake above his head. "Bring it on, little Shrimp."
Onlookers to the battle start whispering.
"Oh god, those two are at it again..."
"Really? Ugh, here we go again."
"Hey! I bet twenty bucks that Remi will win this round!"
Blue electricity runs rampant through the air. Arlo activates his power and places a force field around Remi.
Great. They're fighting over the last piece again. Wait. I missed it again! I will never get a piece of that cake! John thinks to himself.
